Catfish in the Midlands

Is there anywhere in the Midlands where I might stand a chance of catching a Wells Cat? I have never seen one never mind caught one and I would like to try.

Hi Terri,

I don,t know if the fishery I am about to suggest is technically in the midlands, but it's not far away.
Although I have not fished it, I have read that it holds several Wells cat fish to 40lbs+.
The fishery is in Kirton Lindsey and is advertised from time to time in the angling press, it lies somewhere between Gainsborough and Linclon, and night fishing is allowed if you want to make a weekend of it.

Theres a few places in the shropshire area that have wells in them.

on second thoughts if you can let me know where abouts in the midlands you are i might be able to find one near you.
I have only got a list of fisheries with cats in near my home county of staffs.
I've got some for chesire & shropshire but thats it i'm afraid

the river ebro is in spain and catfish to over 200lbs carp from 2lbs to 30lbs, zander,pike,loads of course fish,black bass. if you have never fished the ebro you will be taken back by the exterme beauty, all as natural as you can get.non comercial.set in the region of catalunia and over 500miles long this river is not well known in england although anglers are more aware of the river each year.if you look on the map from barcelona look down the map(south) of barcelona find tarrogona then look for the delta this is an outcrop on the map.

Theres some lake's called Shatterford near Bewdley/Stourport that have catfish in them.
