I think Bread is very underated, it is still one of the most appealing baits to most fish and it's cheap as well.

Seriously, I have had a lot of success on the humble maggot, then I don't go after BIG carp.

Every bait has its day, some lakes it can be meat, others sweetcorn and so on.

If you are trying a lake, ask the locals but be prepared to experiment.

local knowledge of the venue will beat everything in your bait box.taking 1 bait that you have confidence with will beat 10 different baits that you dont

Last year Sweetcorn was a winner for me but my mate done well on cat food as well as on corn a few come on maggot as well....... But in saying that it depends on the day , conditions, and venue

i always have about 6 or 7 baits with me when i go fishing as it gives you more options

for different types of fish definitely maggot or if u r after carp in particular then sweetcorn is the best bait to use
