carp fishing

some advice needed please chaps.....

i am going carp fishing for the first time tomorrow (usally pike only for me)

how do i attach a "leader" of mono to a braided main line?[:I]

and what bs "leader"is required?

any other hints or tips that you feel might help feel free to add []

ps....i've never ever fished a still water before,always been a river man [:0]

Is it a natural still water or a commerical? Size of the lake? Size of the fish?

errr.....not sure to be honest [:I] pretty sure its a commercial
,its at mells in frome. i know the carp go around 20lb at least maybe bigger...sorry i'm not helping much am i!!![:I]

I use a bimini twist knot on the end of my braid mainline and then use a standard leader knot to attach my leader.

why not just use a rubber safty leader and tie the braid mainline to the swivel on the rig ?

I went into my tackle shop this afternoon for some boilies and came out with the new monthly DVD on Carp fishing that is now on the shelves just watched it and really enjoyed it(www.carp-tv), just about to subscribe to it,
