Hi there,

Can anyone recommend some good up to date online tackle shops, for poles, rods etc... at reasonable prices.

If you could email me the urls, would be appreciated.

Thanks

Barry

Zimmo, I agree with Ruddy Roach. I`ve used WMAC (slow delivery), Fosters of Birmingham, Floats-Direct & a few others - but www.tackleshop.co.uk was by far the best. Ok I only ordered small stuff but it was with me next working day with no P&P - fantastic service !

Regards

Robin

I find it hard to imagine how anyone could be better than Floats-Direct, maybe as good as?????
I think Zimmo was asking about Poles & rods.

Yep, Mike I am looking at getting a starter pole for my lad, and also one for me, just one that does not cost loads, is good and light to use and wont break the bank.

So any suggestions most helpful. I have emailed alot of sites that have products, but I never get a reply from half of them.

Cheers all

The best by far is;

http://www.swiftys-fishing-tackle.co.uk/catalog/default.php

I order a load of kit from here - spot on prices and delivery etc.

Thanks for the advice here, much appreciated. I was wondered what wmac were like, as they are a big superstore. Quite surprised that they take so long to sort things out. Not good business, especially being as big as they are.

Thanks again keep the suggestions coming, I am checking them out.

Hi Zimmo

I have used WMAC a few times. The benefit of using them is that they can offer a great range at consistently good prices and seem to have good stock levels.
They are always the first place I look for on-line tackle (mostly prefer to use local tackle shop if it stocks what I want)

They state 5-7 day delivery, and that's working days. I ordered something the other week and it turned up in exactly 7 working days.
It does what it says on the tin!
If you can wait that long then they are OK to use.

Only one reservation though. The first time I used them I hadn't recieved the goods in 7 days. I didn't realise that meant WORKING days so rang a week after ordering to query where my goods were.
It took them absolutely ages to track down my order and conform it was all OK. This experience made me think that if problems occured then it might be a chore to get things sorted.

Other than that I have used:
Bennets (fine but pricey)
Askari (Excellent, well cheap and reasonable delivery considering it comes from Germany)
Swiftys (stock levels weren't great, got offered several alternatives)

I recently ordered a pole from Fisherman's Friend in Birmingham, arrived on free delivery for the next working day. They don't have a website but they always have major adverts in most fishing mags. I'll be using them again.

To get hold of Tiny (Andy), either go to Messages and send him a PM, or look in the Tackle Advice Forum and get the details of his signature.

The service and price are good, I got a starter pole from him a couple of months ago.
