Hi all,

Bit of help please, can the attached section be repaired or is it too badly broken?

I bought the pole brand new about 5 years ago, my nephew stepped on the section about 3 months after I got the pole, which made it a bit soft, then it snapped shipping out with a cupping kit about 6 months after that.

Due to a huge number of reasons, I haven't been fishing since, so it must be 4 years since I last had a day out. I have really be struggling over the last couple of years and I think getting back on the bank will really help. Having just been furloughed from work, I now have more time on my hands as well.

I would be extremely grateful if anyone had any advice for me. I live in Bury, just north of Manchester, so if anyone can suggest a local repairer.

Or does anyone know of/have a second hand section i can buy? The pole is a Maver Carp 1 Enigma. I am not that precious that it has to be a section from this exact pole just as long as it fits and does the job.

Or absolute worse case scenario, does anyone know where I can buy a new section. Money is quite tight at present, with it being just after Xmas and now a 20% wage drop, so I will have to save some pennies if going new.

I have tried Google and I am just confusing myself, maver do that many types, I am just not sure what would work!

Sorry for the ramblings and thanks in advance for the help.

I've seen a lot worse than that repaired

This lad isn't too far from you either and I've seen some good reports on his repairs...

Danny Sixsmith would be your best bet, but last I heard he wasnt doing repairs due to Covid.
May have started again but unsure, someone else on here might know?

Thanks for all the replies, it really is appreciated. Does anyone know a rough cost for a repair?

I think a new section might be 80 quid ish, plus postage, so getting towards 100. Second hand section maybe 40 ish? So if a repair is 40-50, (total guess) then maybe a second hand section would be best option. Its just finding one though!

I got 2 no.4s repaired with similar breaks to yours at Leigh Tackle and bait about 5 years ago and the total cost was £30.

Contact Steve at North West Pole Repairs, excellent service and reasonable prices. from Bury you could drop it of and collect when ready.
He does have a facebook page you can contact him on, with plenty of reviews and pictures of repairs done.
