Buying property in France

Bonjour, a mates old man is in the throughs of purchasing a property and lake 45 mins from Saint Marlow which is a four bed house with a gite??(cottage). The lake is stocked with carp and also has rights to a river that flows through the land stocked with trout. As he intends to offer fishing holidays are there any local bye laws or hidden clauses that he should know about before signing on the dotted line. [!][!][!]

Find out if he actually gets the fishing rights to the pool as you can own one and still not have the rights because they belong to the local township or government officer(mayor).
There may also be a shed load of clauses to do with parking and traffic passing through.

Thanks Tiny, he thinks that he will own the lake and the rights to fish it but there is certain clauses over the rights to the river that may be a problem [V][V]

His best bet might be to enlist the help of a local solicitor in the nearby town as not only will they be able to help out with that side of it, the chances are they'll also know the contacts around there

Some friends of my parents bought a small collection of buildings to renovate into gites and because they initially stood on the toes of some of the locals they now have difficulty getting local tradesmen or suppliers.

But surely with the way of the world the US and our great leader will invade France soon so we wont have problems with the locals then especially if this is there airforce!!

Check on local charges for day ticket waters made by the local council - can be up to 10 per rod per day!!
Cuts a big hole in day ticket receipts if they do.
Even though the waters, including the lake, are owned by your friend the local council still expects a day ticket "fee".

Its hit a hitch already the french t*at cant make up his mind whether he wants to sell it or not although the whole deal had been agreed, sorry if there are any french who subscribe to this forum but generally I wouldnt trust them as far as i could throw them !!
