Anyone with experience of these rods?

Looking for a potentially cheap river waggler rod and slider rod. Would save me a bit over a 14' Garbolino Slider rod as these are going for £59.95. Not sure if it would be up to slider fishing though and not sure if it's a decent rod for the river. Another option I've considered is a 14' Acolyte Plus as I could potentially cover both bases with that.

Just go with the acolyte if that’s what you can afford, or maybe the signature pro which you might be able to still get a bit cheaper. No point cutting corners with float rods as cheap ones are nowhere near as good as the more expensive ones, especially for rivers. It’s a much bigger difference than with say feeder rods.

Assume you could use your 17ft acolyte for slider tbh? Then get a 13 or 14 ultra for waggler and stick. Or the signature pro if you need a touch more power but don’t want fork out on a plus.

I thought as much. 😆 Thought I might have been able to save myself a few quid. Though I do like the idea of a dedicated slider rod. In the end I might end up going for a 13ft Plus AND the Garbolino Slider rod.

You ask a question then take advice from someone who’s never even fished with most of the stuff he recommends 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

He knows his rods though so it's welcome. My shopping out loud threads always descend into this. 😆

Bit harsh? I’ve fished with the ultra’s and plus’s and toyed with the signature pro enough times to have a rough idea of what it’s like. And have fished with and handled enough sub £100 float rods and only found a couple half decent ones to be fairly sure most will not be up to it as they very rarely have proper float actions. Never seen the slider rod hence why I didn’t comment on that.

I’ve been toying with buying free spirit hi S rods, but I wouldn’t think that qualified me to give advice on every distance feeder rod on the market 🤷‍♂️

Fair comment but I have probably handled the signature pro about a dozen times so at least have a rough idea of it. I just can’t get past the handle 😂

Well I own a signature pro rod a 11 ft PW , but I haven’t had chance to actually fish with it yet, so don feel I could comment 🤷‍♂️And just cos you waggle something around in a tackle shop or look at it online and put it on your wish list, doesn’t mean you know how it’s going to fish

Fair comment again can’t argue with that. It does give you at least a rough idea of it’s power/how and where it bends and how it recovers though. Like yes you won’t know exactly how it fishes but you can tell roughly what it could be used for. I’d never recommend anyone buys a rod blind off recommendations just suggest stuff for people to go look at.

He doesn’t really , he’s fished with a couple of acolytes and that’s about it 😂😂😂😂😂
Well off the top of my head float rod wise I’ve fished with the following might have missed a couple

13ft and 14ft acolyte ultras
An acolyte plus but can’t recall if 13 or 14
13ft Ultralight matchpro
I think 13ft matchpro
13ft series 7 silverfish
13ft hardy marksman supero
13ft Abu suveran
13ft CR10 #1
13ft Preston competition
13ft Preston tyson
10ft ninja
13ft Leeda concept GT
13/15 greys prodigy
13 daiwa whisker of some sort

I could go through the feeder, spinning and boat rods as well but that would be a rather long list!

Have you fished with an Acolyte @chefster? I have a 17' one. 😆 A very specialist tool. 😆

I think you two should go Bream fishing or something lol.

In the meantime. I got my Universal Credit today. I get it every month and it feels like free money on top of what I earn. I will be buying blind but I think we're quite lucky in fishing as a hobby that £200 will get you a good rod compared to back when I used to buy Synths and spent as much as you could spend on a high end pole. It means I can buy nice tackle as I'd only dwindle the money otherwise and it's nice to have nice tackle even if I'm only mucking about with it, even if my dad doesn't agree, a good rod and the rods I'm buying at the moment I hope to last me 10 years and there's not many more I really want now.

I’ve never fished with an acolyte so I certainly wouldn’t ever give advice on one , I know very little about rods apart from the ones I own , so very rarely try to give advice..I think you might as well buy blind , as to take advice from people who probably know less than you do anyway..... You’ve got a good knowledge of rods that you like, trust your own instincts or ask the right people 😉

Haha don’t worry we will. There are some people that get all shirty with each other on here but me and @chefster arent amongst them we just have good natured discussions and don’t take anything too seriously 👍🏻
Thats it ,you have to grow a pair ,take it as someone with good knowledge and ability trying to put you on the right path . Have a discussion take the advice or leave it ,above all dont get ratty ,its a fun site ,experts on all angles of fishing with some great advice. If i cant waggle a rod ,a pole i youtube it look at videos ,i take no notice of the sponsored anglers selling their companies goods , i watch the action of the rod or pole on the different sizes of fish and how it handles them , if i can i also look at individual matches on the tube or people who fish in my club or other anglers .Thats my 2 penneth worth lol. I just buy what i fancy if its shheet id just laugh but ive been happy with it all ,guess im lucky or is it the weeks or sometimes months googleing 😆
