Bream

Fishing my usual pond on friday, i caught a load of Bream that felt like they where covered in sandpaper. Anyone know why this is? Is it something to do with spawning?

Did they have little white bumps on them?

Think so, didn't really pay that much attention. Just seemed strange. Though they were easier to unhook as you could get a good grip of them.

I think they're called breeding tubercles, most fish get these during breeding season, I've seen them too on bream i caught last year.

I thats the things - been up way to early and can't think this morning.

if they felt rough down their flanks isn't that a sign of Gill Fluke or is that only in tropical fish - stuffed if I know[:I]

definately spawning tubercules
