A net of crucians and commons from a local pond. Not a commercial. I keep the bread squares in a plastic bag to keep them fresh, taking them out as I need them. Warburtons blue is the best for the punch. Stays fresher longer, also stays on the hook with a light pinch. This was a 5 or 6 mm punch. These were winter fish. Note the dead leaves.

Would you have fed liquidised bread as well?

Hi Silver Fan, I always feed liquidised bread that I grind up myself and sieve if on a canal, or frozen pond. For those carp and crucians I used 20 % ground carp pellets and 80% liquidised white. This is a recent blog on the same pond Bread punch commons and crucian carp late call at Allsmoor , when I used a heavy mix of ground carp pellets, ground hemp, hemp and liquidised bread on a short late afternoon visit. I use the bread punch all the year round on still and running water in my local area.
