Personally I don't like the X Factor style back panel and can't understand why they've gone for the open leg system that's caused many issues on previous RIVE boxes - besides the £1500 price, I'm out :)

There’s no doubt it’s a nice box and if you want it and can quite comfortably afford it then why not ? We’re only here once. Can I ask Dave ..... is it carbon like the Absolute is ?

My missus has just looked at the photo and said without any prompting "Why has it got X Factor on the back of it?" :D

£1500 for a seatbox is just ridiculous. I also can't see the point in back panels, surely they just add unnecessary weight?
Also - I don't like 36mm legs, too much restriction on the accessories you can get.

how much..... I can buy a 3 piece leather suite for that sort of money. It's one for the tackle tarts. I never quite get why boxes have space underneath which could be utilised and also, there is too much surface area to get wet/ keep clean.....not for me.....but if you think by buying one it will help you catch more fish, go for it........

I'll be upfront, I like Rive seatboxes, but I'd not pay the 'new' price for one as to me it's a seatbox at the end of the day.

The one advantage they always had is the trays can be swapped around with the different variations/models of the box. To me this has been lost on this model as it also uses a completely new design of tray and catch from what I've seen.
The other advantage with Rive boxes is the ease of access to spares. I see so many times posts asking where to buy this that and the other part for their particular seatbox, yet most Rive parts are readily available from various sources, and if not there's a community of users to fall back on.

I think the X was designed so waves could pass through the box when wading. Solid back panels have been removed on alot if boxes for this reason, so im lead to believe
Being an open leg design its not for me
I fancy the preston carbon but it’s unavailable at the mo

Basically the clamp at the side holding the leg is hinged so the leg can be taken off easily. This came about because the top of the legs also have a clamp so that accessories can be added to the leg tops. The clamp on the leg top prevents the leg from being slid out of the standard leg clamps, but also has a habit of breaking at the hinged part.

Saying that, the legs on this box don't have the 'open leg' top clamp so I can't see the point of the leg clamps anyway
