Repair the edging to stop blocks spreading , then clean off and rebed the blocks on the end of the step with compo to stop them moving , if you're short of a block take one from a less obvious place and replace it

Love the word compo. That’s what I have always called it. Sand and cement. But a few on here have different names for it.
Name them ?

On a general note. I was told to keep spare/left over blocks outside so they weathered at the same rate as the laid ones. Thus any repair using those blocks will not look obvious.

It's the old story tucker, preparation is the key, putting the blocks back is the easy bit if you do it right. You must put the pin kerbs back right, and maybe fresh stone and sand in the base.
