Big Eel out of Bonsai

At present Lindholme Lakes are draining Bonsai Lake, one of the first match lakes on the complex, ready for desilting and maintenance work.
All the fish are being removed and this stonking Eel came out today...

That is a great fish, I wouldn’t like to be unhooking it in the dark.

Will it be returned?

Both eels look in good condition. My biggest eel is 5lb 14oz out of Barton broads and looked old and narley compared to those two. They look very healthy. 👍

No wonder the eels are declining, those lumps should have swam home long ago

It's amazing how they find their way around. Probably slithered out the drain and found the pool with a nice food supply and decided to stay there.

I’m still not sure about the migratory habits of the eel. I know they breed in this Sargasso Sea but how long do they stay in freshwater before they go there?
