Barbel on River Trent

I want to catch my first Barbel. My nearest place that i have heard as being good for Barbel is on the river trent in beeston. Does anyone know of and bait or tackle good for this part of the area. Any help would be great as i would love to catch my first ever barbel.

You wont go far wrong with Halibut Pellets or luncheon meat Eddie and dont forget that barbel love hempseed as well.
You want a decent rod of around 1.5 test suitable for feeder/ledger work and a good solid reel,a baitrunners an advantage but not essential. I'd suggets 10lb main line 12lb if its snaggy with a hair rigged pellet on a lower breaking strain hooklink and a running (safe) ledger rig.
