I've heard this a few times on the forums, what exactly is it? Is it one of those carp fishery floats with a feeder built in, or a feeder that acts like a float? Bear in mind I've been 'away' for a while, but not at Her Majesty's Pleasure I hasten to add.

Confused.

Thanks Malc,

I guess it's just a big, heavy, loaded waggler then and you fire GB out to it, or does it carry GB or loosefeed also?

Forget last post Malc, just seen the picture which I missed first time. So it's a method feeder at the base of a waggler - I get it! Think my Technium Specialist Float rod could handle one?

Hi Mav, ideally you will need a carp rod of at least 1 3/4 lb test curve to enable you to cast out the loaded float. A lighter rod would not be able to withstand the stress of repeatedly casting out such a heavy weight. I have a pair of 2.5 tc Armalites left over from my specimen fishing days which are perfect for this type of fishing as you can really give em a bit of stick. Essential when you're on waters such as Drayton[:p]

Thanks Scouse for your PM, very useful. Looks like a good tactic, think I'll give it a go sometime.

Hi Mav
This is a brilliant way to catch especially if the water responds to surface fishing and particularly larger carp who compete for the bait. The large splash also act like a dinner gong - last time I caught over 150lb in a day using this so give it a go.
