I was once lonely and sad
I thought the park might be a rough neighbourhood
It turns out not that bad
And the fishing is quite good

After fishing 3 days out of the last 7, I’ll be putting my feet up with the occasional rain dance 🙏

Back garden

2 acres of private fishing on prime River Wensum including mill race and mill pool.
Got here to find the owner has suspended all fishing due to low water levels...gutted
However there is a very nice commercial 200m down the road so hopefully Will get to wet a line

Missus is off to london in the morning so I’m gonna have a good day’s fishing on Sunday. I may even start mega early as the sun comes up, I might not as well.

Just debating whether to try a different stretch of the river Dearne for barbel, or head to the Doncaster Don for barbel. In any case I’m going to take some maggots and or/casters and do some float fishing while I’m there.

Fished Himley Hall today - only a few anglers there. Had some nce perch and some tiny perch on the float and a two slimy tency about 3lb & 4lb. Left at six as it was a tad cold out of the sun. Noce place though.

Don't know if I'll get out on the bank this weekend, don't know if I dare! It's not that the bottom has fallen out of my world, It's more like the world is falling out of my bottom! All about me and the Andrex for the foreseeable...............

Good to hear there's another Himley angler on here, I hope it's as quiet in terms of anglers on Sunday, usually is quite quiet there. Does get quite chilly out of the sun if you're fishing on the wall as have shade of trees behind you. I'm calling it the Last Days of Summer, even though we're due another heatwave next week, it will likely be my last proper Tench session of the year.

Tomorrow!

I blew up my spool of 5lb Majorcraft Dangan fluorocarbon on Thursday night, forgot to adjust my brakes and flicked 2 grams as hard as I could, the spool must have spun 10x faster than the lure was taking line because it was the worst backlash I'd ever seen, absolutely annihilated 70m of unrecoverable line.

I was browsing for braid last night getting ready to cough up £40 on some Sunline Small Game, then it occurred to me... I went into storage and pulled out a box, in it was a spare spool belonging to a Prorex spinning reel, on that spool was 150m of J-Braid Grand X8 (0.06mm / 11lb), jackpot!

Undeterred by the idea of cursing a Shimano reel with Daiwa braid - I spooled it up...

I wasn't up for going bankside with fixed-spool gear this weekend, I was planning on farting about with tackle and spending money (I've got intense urges to buy a Rapala Urban Vest Pack at the moment, and also I'm on the hunt for a particular rod blank to build on) -
but this changes things!

Two crucian
Two tench

Got chilly so only fished 2.5 hours. Biggest tench and Crucian

Amazing the pressure you can apply with 5lb hyper Sensor and 0.75lb tc Fox Kevlex specialist rods that are proper through action. I sometimes think a softer rod allows more pressure to be applied

All my Crucians from the park have either come on a Shakespeare Mach 3 waggler rod, it's not a bad rod really, but on the feeder I use a Shakespeare Tetra Avon Specialist that's probably about 0.75lb tc too. I have raved about this rod before but it's my lucky one, had it for years so know exactly how it bends.
