All anglers have the right to compete in angling knowing that they, and their competitors, are clean.

Angling Trust works with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and the International Angling Confederation (CIPS) to ensure the integrity of our sport is protected. The use of performance enhancing drugs and other doping behaviour severely damages the legitimacy of angling and undermines the integrity of the sport.

The fundamental anti-doping principle of strict liability means that an angler is responsible for their conduct, the decisions they make and the results of any test they undergo regardless of whether or not they intended to cheat.

It is therefore important that all anglers conduct themselves within the rules and make informed decisions to ensure they compete clean.

And so they should be, I lost a match the other week because Clive on the next peg had snorted his steroids that morning. He was fishing the pole at 20m to an island with one hand and feeding with the other.

Something needs to be done.

It's not just the fishing though is it?. You have to think of the safety aspect. How would you like it if some drugged up prat fell into your swim? Would someone under the influence be able to climb out of a fairly fast Trent or some other river?

If it's the liquid form of Viagra, rub it on your maggots, it'll make them look hard.

If I, as a well below average match angler were to regularly turn up with clothing, luggage, rods, reels and accesories to the tune of £5k+, all from the same manufacturer, would I fail a dope test?!.

Well, if you bought it all in pink, just tell them you're a tackle tart. :giggle:

How is the average match angler supposed to understand the WADA list? Athletes have expert advisors and some still get it wrong......

Yes I can just imagine our little local club taking blood at urine samples at every match. 1565464814234.gif
