16 Anglers arrived in the carpark at 8am with the temperature just creeping above 0C to fish this 1st round match, and with a water temperature of just over 4C things were looking decidedly dicey.
Bright blue skies and a gentle breeze however lasted all day and the fish decided to co-operate for most at various points throughout the match, with Feeder,Waggler and Pole all producing.

Harleylands once again proved what a cracking fishery it can be with a total of 235lbs 6ozs weighed in,which is an average weight if just over 14lbs per man.Given the conditions a very good return.

The winners on the day were Medway Tackle Blue with a creditable performance, winning by 14pts to 10pts.

A good weight overall Peter, maybe if you'd have had myself and Vince on the team the results would have been different, but hey, that's fishing for you [:p]

How did you do in the end?

8th overall,3rd best weight in our team.

The fish finally turned up on the pole line at 13mtrs with hr to go crybaby2.gif then it was a fish every put in.
I must have doubled my weight in that last 45 minutes.

People really should get their name down for the MD Individual Knockout Championships,Southern Qualifier on Saturday 10th JULY 2004,that will be fished on the reservoir.
If they miss out, they'll be gutted when they see the results, because I reckon it will fish its head off.[;)]

Peter,

Looks like my prediction was just about right.

Top Angler --- Correct -- John Robinson
Winning Team ----- Correct --- Medway Tackle
Top Weight ----- Pretty Close only a few pounds out.
Top Method ----- Not known but I'm sure you'll let me know.

I'm pleased to see the lake fished so well, bites and fish for everyone even in such chilly conditions. This is just how Paul planned it, a fair winter venue with cracking sport to be had in the warmer months. With the good pegging, uniform depth in all pegs, and a sensible stocking policy I can only see the new lakes getting better and better. Once the marginal reeds and the tree cover grow these lakes will be gorgeous places to fish.

Once it's a little warmer I can see another MD day out on the cards. If anyone is interested I'll see what dates are free and get things booked up soon as the diary is already looking fairly full.
