And whilst the Canal boys are helping, I aint too good with big Lakes either!

Here are 4 of my new lakes
Red House!
This is daunting, with only 50 or so big Carp in 18 acres, or so one of the only 3 Anglers I found told me.
Where would you start here?

Datafile.jpg
Big Bream evidently, to 12 lbs, but hard to locate!

Pike to near 30! If at all, I think I would go for them and keep an eye on the Carp men!
Any other suggestions?

Pride Lake.

Well stocked Large Water again, with over 1500 Carp put in over 2 years!
Pike to low 20s, but altogether LARGE Water again.
Fish into the wind?
(Still blowing a Gale today)
What do you think?

Glazebrook!

As near as dammit it is a Commercial Carp Puddle, but a club water!
Lots of Rules, (barbless only, unhooking mats, fish only from platforms, no carp in keepnets, no tether rigs etc.etc.
Less than 3 acres and bailiff said lots of carp showing before the wind got up!
No deep holes and nice even bottom to 8 ft!
I prebaited a swim for tomorrow (with 1 and ton of Drayton leftover)
2 lines, left margin by reeds and a good chuck out in front!
Going to try Waggler and Pole plus cage feeder.
Carp average 7/8lbs

Cullens,

Datafile.jpg

Lovely natural weedy gravel pit, only 1 and acres
TENCH TO 7LB HERE, bream 4 to 5
Pike MUST respond to Spinner here, with all that weed cover.
Much more variable depth, 2 to 15 drop offs.
If Carp dont respond on Glazebrook (only 20 metres apart)
Ill drop in here for Tench/Bream try and a Spin for Pike.
Will take dead bait too!
Hoping to fish from Dawn to dusk and thats about 18 hours now!

(I left Cullens at 9.15pm and it was still light enough to spin!)

When I return tomorrow night, I thank all of you who will tell me what I should have done!!! LOL

Cheers

Water, Water and more Water trouble is you'll end up like me and never know where to fish as you got so much choice.

Red House & Pride Lake
-- These both look like the types of old gravel workings that i grew up on down in Berkshire and used to pleasure fish for the Tench and Bream.
What we used to do back then was spend days just walking the bank (in the then closed season) with pen, note book and a rod with a marker float and map out the venue.

We would find likley looking bars and deeps along with weed beds and the hard and soft bottoms.

Then once we had all possible info down on paper we would sort out plans of attack prebait any swims we fancied and spend more time just walking and watching.

Where as all you should have to do is talk to the long stay anglers mainly the guys after the Carp and see where they get "pestered" by non Carp species then fish those areas for the Bream.

Glazebrook
-- I would tend to avoid for pleasure trips unless i'd had a few bad session and needed a boost then just fish it as you would any normal carp pool.

Cullens
-- I'd love to have a pool like that near me and most pleasure sessions would be spent tossing out a rake and then fishing either worms/bread/corn or meat after those Tench.

Thanks Lads,
Daz, Yeah,Please keep me posted.
Got there at 5.10 am, needless to say , all alone!

Datafile.jpg
Even the damn swans were still asleep!
Firstly, I mixed up Cullens and Glazebrook!

Cullens is the Carp type Puddle, although the policy is not to even let it out for external matches, but to keep it for pleasure Club Members only.
BUT why are the Carp missing STILL?
8 of us fished it today, Not 1 Carp showed! (or Tench)
and Bream Basher bags up a few miles North!
The Water temp. reached 62.8 degrees, 1 degree warmer than the air temp. because of that damn wind, but still no carp feeding!
OR even rolling!

Glazebrook is the natural Pool!

Luckily I was right about Glazebrook.
Set a personal best day (Not hard to do, Ive only had 2 spinning days LOL)
With 7 Pike and 1 Perch!

Heres the 1st little one
Datafile.jpg

Gave up on Cullens at 9.00 am,
Spun until 12.00 (6Pike , 1 Perch)

The best was 7lbs 10 ozs

Datafile.jpg
Back to method feeder and whip on Cullens til 2.00
Slept til 5 in car
5 til 8 still no damn carp
8.00 til 9.40pm spun (1 more 3lb Pike) and it was still light enough to see. Love these late evenings!
Id snagged and lost the great lure after 6 Pike, but this one accounted for the 7th!

Datafile.jpg

BUT one day, I have to have a good Carp/Tench session to restore my faith that Im fishing right!
Thanks for all your help lads and Ill keep you posted on lakes and canal!
