Hi there ,
Ive just got myself 2 Shimano Specialist rod's 2piece a Technium &an Avensis theres 2 top joints to each rod 1 for feeder 1 for float both 1.25 lbtc.
The Avensis is a softer action rod ,can you tell which rod would be more suitable for using with braid. Also each rod comes with 4 push in quiver tips 1.5, oz 2oz, 2.5oz glass tips & a 3oz carbon tip . whats the difference beween using glass tip's to carbon I want to use them for float fishing & feeder work but preferably would want to leave them permanently set up one for float work one for feeder work which rod would be suitable for the float work.

For use with braid I would suggest the softer rod. The reason being to help absorb any sudden lunges etc. Braid has up to 5% stretch. Both Trev and myself have found that any sudden shock load on braid tends for a breakage irrespective of the breaking strain of the braid. Glass fibre is softer than carbon thats why its normal to have the lighter tips in glass and the heavier tips in carbon.

You been spending money again Larry? You better learn how to fish firsticon_smile_big.gificon_smile_big.gif. How is you anyway?
Right the soft rod would be find for light float work as it will be more forgiving. But the stiffer rod may be good for stick work as the action should be faster. Esox has answered the bit about tips, as for braid yeah the softer action will be better for a NOVICE! you know im joking. braid is a bit of a sod to get use to so the softer rod will help you out a lot.
