Some cracking fish there and nice photos too. I think the last time I caught a crucian was 6 years ago 😲 from a now closed lake in Kent. My dad had a bigger one exactly two weeks later from Cobham Hall. Really good fun on light tackle.

You may have live on the lake , after it’s been in angling times if it’s anything like down here every man and his dog will be there that place sounds like it could do the record not too many real 3 s and 4 s about. That’s some serious fishing 🎣

I haven’t caught a crucian for ages, but they were always one of my favourite species growing up. The last decent one I had was about a pound and a half and ten years ago. I’m not sure if there’s any venues round here that stock many crucians, but I haven’t really looked.

Edit: looking through my photos I did have this little one last year, but that’s it.

Wylands Farm (near Hastings) was a fun place for crucians as I recall. I hear that fishery is closing (sigh)

Bah!! :(
No crucians tonight. Unusual for this pond. One mirror carp...3-4lbs, a load of nice roach & I pulled out of a big foulhooked common.

Many people don’t realise how few really big fish are actually out there.
A bailiff told me yesterday there's only 20 Crucians in the lake, all conjecture though that's part of why I don't worry about the lake getting overly busy, it has some nice fish, but there's not many in there.

I had this one within 20mins of setting up and my first after a 20yr hiatus - in hindsight I think it was a good fish that deserved a proper picture, I’m 6’5 and 30st+ for scale.
