just fished the lake at stillington nature reserve after not fishing over the winter. had 3 great days there, smashing place, apart from the rubbish that the kids leave. the local beat bobby, great bloke, is tryn hes best to sort the problem. good to know someone cares about the places we enjoy & fish. say hello when you see him. caught a good mixed bag on all 3 days, carp, mirror, leather and crucian to good sizes. roach, skimmers, perch & tench. one tench over 5lb, great fight!i can recomend this lake to any md'ers for a great days fishing. its full of fish, most of the carp are 4 to 7lb but ther are good doubles that come out quite often (or swim past you 3 ft out!!!) my advice, fish where you like, on what you want as ive caught on all the baits ive tried (meat, corn, pellet, dog buiscuit, worm, maggot & castor) in all the swims ive used (out in the middle, against the reeds or the margins) so enjoy & if you do try it please let me know how it went & your opinions on the place.

The top one of those ponds (the queer shaped one) is a trout fishery Mark - the other (bigger) one is Bishopton Mill - built and owned by the Tees Association. They've had huge problems with cormorants and weed I believe.

Thanks dusty, last time i walked round there it was just a weedy pool, i think its the place they put all the massive chub in when they emptied the old reservoir or whatever it was.

IL have to take the dog for a walk round there then[:T]

I have got to you all know what this place can be like.
I had fished this place last year with good results, but had to put up with lots of rowdy disrespectful people of all ages. Now that was bad enough seeing them mess around, without a care for the fish or surroundings but when I went earlier this year I was greeted by a group of adults that had camped there. With the place littered with cans and rubbish, they were drunk and heard them talking of taking drugs. To top it off they started pelting eggs at my friends and I.They threatened to take our tackle from us so we were not comfortable stopping there so we left.
Had to let you know of my experience there although it could be a pretty little pond if looked after,it is about two foot deep at the most
