1st session on a new venue

Earlier this week i manged to get a trip to new venue that i got membership to as part of a present from my wife. Its an old estate lake only 10 mins from me which the syndicate chairman had told me was a prolific fishery with a good head of carp in the 6-12lb bracket. He also had told me essentially most things worked there. Given until last year id not fished in over 20yrs it would be a great place for me to learn new/updated methods and get the confidence in them.
On arrival, only having a couple of hours in the evening, and not knowing the venue , i put my gear down on the first swim, which had plenty of fish showing. Method was simple, again due to time. One rig to be fished in the margins to the reeds, and just a small tin of corn as bait. Margin plumbed up nicely, relatively flat and around 2ft. Double corn on the hook and a few grains loose fed by hand and it didn’t take long to get bite. 2 roach in 2 drops before i hit into my first carp. Unfortunately couldn’t get more sections on quick enough and the hook pulled. Next put in the hooklength broke, followe by 2 more loast fish and another doing my rig in the reeds. Put another slighty stronger rig on and within minutes i was in again and landed a carp 3-4lb, same again next put followed by another 6 between 6lb and 10lb. Packed up about 9:30 after running out of light and corn. Was a great couple of hours, having around 50lb in total, and looking forward to my next trip, where im planning on trying the method, something ive never fished with.
