Youth National 2019 press release

Makins Fishery played host to the Angling Trust Youth National (16-20) which was a scorcher of match, not just due to the weather, but also down to some great weights from the young guns.

John Light (Jnr) (Sensas A4 MG Green) couldn’t believe his luck when he was given corner peg 8 on Lake 3, his peg being black with sunbathing carp. Right from the off he caught carp by dobbing pellet on the pole a switch to shallow methods saw John catching steadily all day to place 55.750Kg on the scales. This earnt him the title of Youth National Champion 2019, which we believe to be the first ever son and Father to have picked up the same individual title! Four pegs away at peg 19 Rob Swan (Tri-Cast Bait-Tech) adopted similar tactics to the winner, but couldn’t quite match him for numbers and he ended up with 50.325Kg. Josh Newman (Sensas Mark One Datum 360 White) took third place from peg 26 on Lake 4 after fishing pellet waggler to the corner of his island.

Tri-Cast Bait-Tech were crowned Youth National Team Champions with three section winners helping them to 40pts on the day. Sensas Mark One Datum 360 White claimed the runner place with 38pts and Sensas A4 MG Green were third with 33pts.

The section winners from this match all qualified for this weekends' Junior Fish'O'Mania final at Hayfield Lakes and they are:

• Zac Worby (Tri-Cast Bait-Tech)
• Nathan Wills (Sensas Mark One Datum 360 Green)
• Ethan Etherington (Sensas A4 MG Green)
• John Light (Jnr) (Sensas A4 MG Green)
• Billy Marlow (Tri-Cast Bait-Tech)
• Josh Newman (Sensas Mark One Datum 360 White)

All competitors on the day went home with a Guru filled goody bag and the top four Individuals all received Dynamite Bait prizes. The Angling Trust would like to thank Alan and his team at Makins Fishery for helping to make this a fabulous day for the youngsters and to Guru and Dynamite baits for their generous prizes.
