Carp aren't half a pain when they put a temporary break on your silvers swim. When I fish for roach and perch on my local Stillwater if I hook a carp it's usually met by me exclaiming "oh poo" or words to that effect ;) do get funny looks from the surrounding carpers when I get peed off with a carp haha

So my 11' MAP pellet waggler (which I bought about five years ago) which has a T.C. of 12 oz is a canal rod? I bought it to fish a small lake which was full of 4-6 oz Rudd and Roach but I've landed Carp up to 7lb or so on it.

No, it's not light actioned. A twelve ounce test curve is only light as far as specialist type rods go. I actually have some 12oz TC light specialist Avons. I'd float fish with them in some situations, but light line roach fishing wouldn't be one of them. I'd expect a really light actioned float rod to have a test curve of around 4oz. Mucking about with scales and leads suggest my chosen light rod has a TC closer to 2oz. However, a test curve rating is dodgy to discern at home and doesn't mean much anyway.

You certainly wouldnt use a 12oz test curve quiver tip on a feeder rod for roach fishing of any size lol
