I have no knowledge of the camera body... but as a Nikon D40 user I'd say you can't go wrong with a Nikon... best out there by far

I have the D80 with 18-55 and 70-300 AF-P VR Lenses, and it's a superb kit for quality images which will enlarge extremely well.
The only downside is that the whole caboodle is quite a heavy package to cart around.
So to be honest, I mostly use my iPhone camera these days. It's perfectly adequate.
Have you considered a good bridge camera like the Coolpix B500?

I had a D5300 which is the same family but a little older. I sacked off the 18-55 kit lens and bought a Tamron 18-400 lens and it was a fantastic setup. Ended up selling though to buy fishing gear :D
