Sound like a step in the right direction. Had a workmate who lost £6 grand in a few minutes after a few vodkas on roulette. Just kept picking Red and hoping it would drop in. Double your stake till you win. It didn’t. I think that type of betting got a name.
Yes. Stupid. I like a old bet on my phone. Never nowt daft. Also Worked to hard to give money away. Kids came 1st.

But will this stop it or will there alway be away around get money for gambling

It'll never stop mate. No matter what or how they try to ban it, some people will still gamble. If they try to stop it on the card, there's the 'hole in the wall' for cash.

How do you know, when gambling online, that it is not rigged?

If I have a bet, I go to the bookies and hand over cash, paying by card is too easy and you don't feel like you have spent anything.

Gambling is a mugs game. Bookies make millions because people give them millions.

The only way to make money from gambling is to work on the other side of the counter. I made money from gambling by working for the Tote at Harringay Dog track.

Good question. I only bet on sports etc. Not that casino stuff
Seen all them bingo adverts on daytime tv.
Had a mate RIP. His lass handed him cheese sandwiches for his bait, divorce papers and at same time told him she had £30k card debt from the bingo sites. He was a bit of a state at work that day. Still ate his sarnies

About 1955 a local guy rented disused building from my dad, tarted it up, and started a betting shop. At that stage he drove an old Morris Minor. Within a few years he had a Wolsey 444, then a Jag. bought a bigger premises, moved house to a farm on town outskirts, and his family, years later, owned and ran several betting shops and pubs.
While some of his regular local customers used let everybody know of their "big wins" and I'm not good at maths, something just didn't figure! Neil, from your background you know how money works. Can you figure this one out?

I like a bet every week. Just £5-£10 though. I'll do a yankee on the horses & an accumulator on the footy. I have an online account because all the local betting shops have closed down round by ours.
I never touch fruit machines or any other form of gambling though.

Like the Landlord I have a bet on the footie every Saturday, usually a four team accumulator and that's not easy I can tell you,it adds a bite more interest to the results as they come through, never no more than a fiver which I can comfortably afford, when I was younger I was addicted to the horses until like Neil I went to work on a Saturday in my local betting shop, only time I have a bet on the horses now is on The National or if one of the horses I have a very small share in is running

Never had a bet in my life. I worked too hard for my cash to give it to a bookie.
Ex wife went to bingo three or four times a week. When we split I found out she owed 45 grand to credit cards and loan companies.
I've never been to bingo, never put money in a one armed bandit, and never played the lottery.
The only thing I am guilty of is being pools fodder, because I think I'm a better angler than I am. :)

The :ROFLMAO: was aimed at the last part of your post mate, the first bits weren't funny, no joke finding out about a 45k debt:(

Definitely no joke mate, especially when 3 of the loans totalling 20 grand were in my name. She'd forged my signature to get them but came unstuck in court when there was a discrepancy in the application forms of the loans, luckily for me. When confronted with said discrepancy she folded and admitted she'd forged the signatures.
All water under the bridge now as it was 15 years ago. :)

I have the odd punt on football or golf (majors) but majority of my gambling money now goes into football index, it's like stocks and shares for football players but you never lose your whole stake, doing very well so far.

a game of cards, is technically gambling

and Im very partial to a rack of 7 card brag,

but if your sensible and understand the game, it is possible to actually make a bit of money

In the sixties my then boss took me to a dog track, I put five bob {a pint and a packet of fags} on a four legged disaster known
as `tricky tide`. The useless mutt fell over on the first bend, my first and last bet.

Have the odd Acca now and again. Made a fair bit on matched betting a year or so ago as well but couldn’t be bothered with it in the end.
Brother paid his mortgage off with matched betting winnings.

I worked in the betting industry for 10 years.

Problem gamblers or "addicts" if you will, they will always find a way to gamble. Doesn't matter what you ban.

I do the lottery, I have never bet on football matches or gone to a casino. The only time I have a dabble on the horses is when I actually go to the races for a day out. Maximum bet of £5 a race.
