Classical music is no stranger to odd instruments

The anvil has been used a few times, the most well known being The Anvil Chorus. The typewriter of course in Leroy Anderson's The Typewriter. Cannon in the 1812 overture.

Many composers have used the Theramin, surely everyone knows the Dr Who theme. It was not though, as has been suggested, used for the Star Trek theme, that was a human voice.

Going back to the anvil, I believe Ringo Starr played one on Maxwell's Silver Hammer.

Any track from the "Call of the Blues" album by Micael Messer's Mitra. I particularly like Bhupali Blues

Mitra is a trio comprising British Blues innovator and slide guitarist, Michael Messer, Hindustani slide guitar maestro from India, Manish Pingle, and London-based tabla master, Gurdain Singh Rayatt.
