Apologies for my boring posts, but the weather here is desperate again guys.

River Rible has risen 4m in a couple of hours with torrential rain forecast all day.
Stay safe if you are travelling and don't get caught on a river bank.

Just travelled from Wigan to Warrington.
Never seen anything like it had to make 3 detours and lucky to get home.
My advice is travel only in emergencies.

Thr Ribble has risen another metre since I posted with loads more rain yet to come today.
I expect it to reach it's highest ever recorded level as it is only about a foot off now and is still rising fast.

No water in France...rivers very low. Retention lakes ahead of Paris at low level....And no winter!!
Not good either here.

Just gone over the Ribble at Tickled Trout. Never seen it like that in my life. Totally burst banks and covers the whole field either side. Looks unfortunate for whoever lives in the farm there.

Yes, just been over the M6 at the Tickled Trout too - it is madness, a raging torrent, banks burst and now level with the gravel workings to the north.
The focus of the rain is further south this time, though it is raining very heavily in Cumbria now.

River Douglas in Wigan is a metre above it's highest recorded level. We had flood defences put in about 5 yrs ago.

This is what it looks like when they work properly.

This is what it looks like today.

Seems to be doing the job so far as the town centre isn't flooded yet, but there is some localised flooding in a few places due to the drains, but more rain is expected tonight.

Even the Leeds-Liverpool canal has bursts its banks

Thanks to Mick, whoever he is, for putting the clips on line.

There could be a rather large snag in the Ribble now as the Dinckley suspension bridge has apparently been ripped out and presumably lurks somewhere downstream.[:0]

Correction to the above post, I am now informed the bridge is still there but badly buckled.
