Just watched the Spurs/Sunderland game. Great advert for video ref. Re-ran the replay a few times.

Bent pushes the ball past Gomes then leaves right leg trailing followed by left leg so he is now bound to fall over and all this before any contact with the 'keeper. Pushes right foot to the right so that he kicks Gomes in the ribs and goes to ground. Meanwhile ball has run to the left which means that if Bent had run after the ball he would have only had to step over Gomes's arm which is on the floor and the only part of his body between Bent and the ball. No contact would have been made had Bent followed the ball.

So penalty or should it have been a yellow for Bent?

In Honesty as a Sunderland Supporter I thought he dived, the annoying thing is that If he hadn't dived then the chances are he would have got clattered and gone down anyway.

There was one in the first half that was a stonewall penalty, maybe it is things leveling up.
