Good thread - Will Penny and Jeremiah Johnson nice choices - would love Will Penny to make it to blu ray one day.

Ten of my favorites are..

Hombre - Paul Newman

Ulzana's raid - Burt Lancaster

The Big country - Gregory Peck

Valdez is coming - Burt Lancaster

3:10 from Yuma - Glenn Ford

The man who shot Liberty Valance - James Stewart

My Darling Clementine - Henry Fonda

Saddle the wind - Robert Taylor

The Tall T - Randolph Scott

Westward the women - Robert Taylor - bit left field this one but good film nevertheless

Remember Wagon Train?
Can't remember who was in it now but it used to be on Sunday afternoons in the late 60's & 70's.
Used to watch all the tv series westerns.....Alias Smith & Jones, The Virginian, Bonanza & The Big Valley, High Chapparal

Ward Bond and Robert Horton were the two main stars to Wagon Train, along with Rawhide (starring Clint Eastwood) two of my favourites when I was but a lad.

a lot of the westerns were so good not only for the big name but the support cast .
Strother Martin springs to mind as does Jack Elam ,Woody Strode and Ward Bond
Chill Wills, Gabby Hayes And Slim Pickens.
all great actors who made the western so good.

Probably one of the most Emotive scenes and soundtrack ever in a cowboy film, Slim pickens !

Another vote for `carry on cowboy`, you either appreciate the pure silliness or you don`t. Not really a western fan although
the spaghetti films with Clit Eastwood were good.

Has any one seen Young Guns & Young Guns 2, I like both of these but most westerns are some of my favourite films to watch.
I like Lee Van Cleef and of course Clint Eastwood, John Waye etc the list goes on and on.

As a kid westerns were always on the cinemas or as we called them on the pictures and even today i'm still hooked on them my wife doesn't understand why i watch them. The acting in them old ones are a bit sh--te but they always tell a good story about how a lot of the wild west must have been especially if you got caught by them fekn red indians :D

This is a good. Always like Jarmusch films.

Often find myself singing the theme to Rawhide even though I haven't seen it. Can't really beat Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill for Spaghetti silliness either.
