DaveMake sure you always have the most recent reference file installed by using the Freeware add-on for Ad-aware, it keeps your reference file up to date. As the reference file becomes updated it ensures your system is scanned and checked for the latest Spyware, etc. The mini program automatizes the complete update procedure, including installation. It is very simple to use, but you will find a step by step example on the FAQ-page. If no reference file can be located, the most recent file will always be downloaded and installed. MrsMwe have just added AD-AWARE to our computer and i was shocked at what it found lurking in the depths of our pc i would recommend it to everyone and have even suggested to someone already though i don't like to say this but THANKS dave Maria Moderating the MODS
TrevskiJust to confirm something. Toma wasn't [:(!][:(!][:(!] at Ad-Aware but at all the stuff it found on his PC that he didn't know was there. He had me worried for a while there [;)] Incidentally, I ran this on one of the PCs at work that had really slow internet access. It found 87! Count em! 87! instances of adware components, cleaned em up resulting in access in-line with the other PCs in the office. waxlion1Dave me old china! I realize that you hve put this in "LAYMANS" terms, but could you please put it in English this time?.. I don't understand a dam word of this, but I have heard of Spyware. Waxlion1
DaveLol, Wayne or would you prefer it in Welsh ? In Esporanto: Spyware is a little piece of program that feeds back to the sender information about your movements on the internet. Its a bit of a marketing tool that generally is carried with a program that you have chosen to download. Not quite big brother stuff but if they haven't asked, why let them? Dave
Newtwaxlion - spyware is stuff that gets put on your computer without your knowing it by vendors who want to get information about you without you knowing it. The spyware program will feed information back to them. Ad-aware keeps a list of the current spyware that is out there and can recognize when you have it on your PC. It will locate it and ask you if you want to get rid of it or not. If you say "yes" the program with all it's files and registry entries are removed. Quick, painless, and free. If there are any pieces of spyware you want to keep (some are needed to run games and such and you will usually know they are there) you can tell Ad-aware to ignore them in the future. The folks who wrote the program spend a good bit of time updating it regularly as new spyware is found. For me, even though it is free, I sent them some money anyway as a way of saying "thank you" and to help keep them doing what they do. Typical results the first time you run it will be in the range of 20 to 150 spyware programs found that you didn't know were there. Newt Vail
DragonbatIts a fine piece of software works a treat. Even if you think you have been to a good clean site it will find any iffy files that site put on your machine. Its a must on any PC.
AlnathThere is a new update available for Ad-aware, it is highly recomended that you download it as the new breed of spyware once installed on your PC does a "hunt and destroy" job on ad-aware and removes it from your system. More information on this unpleasent move http://www.spywareinfo.com/issues/index.html John Its not what you have got, it's how you use it

DaveThe reason being Haydn is Kazaa is full of spyware add-ins. Try Kazaa-Lite instead its a much better P2P and uses the same engine: http://www.kazaalite.com/ Regards, Dave Dave
