Fishing Match in W Yorks
carpbob3I was just wondering if anyone fancied getting together when the weather gets better and having a match somewhere in W Yorks..... Venue and time to be discussed Let me know what you think by posting on here or emailing me at robert.copland@btopenworld.com .... could be a good reason to get together and see the faces behind the forum snippets.[:)]
teepeeRight Dave thats cleared everything up, or was that left, Bob foget the rules we dont want to confuse anybody. P.s. who do i wave to, teepee. Do not resist growing old. Many are denied the privilege.
normcarpbob i do not really have a prob with the match it`s self it is the addit pools for the class anglers to win that i was on about the point is i have a cabinet full off trophy's (believe it or not guys) but i now hate matches and only go for the fun but if it is a proper match i will not be able to leave my peg and walk around and talk to people which is my favorite thing (talking ) as long as it remains fun and does not get out of hand i will go but why don't you just make it a £1 or £2 pools so every one will go don't forget this site is full of new fisherman that are just starting to take up fishing and the last thing they want to do is loose there money to lets just say better fishermen come on do the right thing and the list will go from 9 to about 20 i bet lets make it a get together, not a match , a lot of people on this site would have no chance of winning but would love to take part in a fun get-together so we can all meet each other please put on your reply --is it for fun for every one or a match for the more experienced anglers PS the chichen has been shot (LOL)
DaveSounds good to me Bob, Have we the whole lake or just 12 pegs? If the pick of the lake then how about double pegging it but leave out the first and last few (where you come in) I'll get some peg tickets and bring the scales if you want, just let me know [:)] Dave
DaveEre, I'm not tight - just frugal [:D][:P] Dave
StuEre Bob What is worrying me is that old Tight arse Webbo is willing to pay £9 [}:)][}:)] Stu ***L.U.F.C.***
StuDave I don't understand will you explain that again please?[:)] Norm We all know you are an old woman anyway[:p] Bob I have difficulties with making a Saturday [V] but Sundays are Fine [^] Stu ***L.U.F.C.***
normsounds good to me sorry for the winging on but i just wanted it to be fair for every one sun 9th sounds good (or any other sunday)
carpbob3that sounds an excellent idea dave How does sat 8 feb or sun 9 feb sound to you all ..... email me and let me know .....
DaveSome fair points there Norm, and I like the reply carpbob Here's a suggestion then bearing in mind that abilities will be varied. Have the match as a combined match and teach-in. Anyone taking part will have to pay for their peg plus like Norm says a bit of fun money which could be put towards a 'team pot' Those who feel more confident or who fancy a wager can enter into a pools for the top placings - say 1,2, & 3 amount to be agreed Divide peg numbers up to make teams depending on numbers for example: 1,4,7,10 = team 1, 2,5,8,11 = team 2, 3,6,9,12 = team 3 and that way everyone will stand a chance of a bit of competition and if you end up with a 'flyer' in your team it'll add that little extra [:)] Dave
carpbob3just a quick reply to Norm ........ you would not be paying £9 to Lee or anynone else that might win the match as you as you have not deducted the cost of the peg from that..... i do however see your point. This is meant to be a bit of a get together but with the added bonus if you should win. but its your choice and i respect that. Bob
carpbob3Is it right you can only get in trouble for stuffing a chicken when its still alive ?........ think you best shoot it first..... [:D] ON A SERIOUS NOTE ..... THE MATCH Moster match is still on, as soon as i have got final numbers (i have 11 at the moment awaiting 9 replies then i can sort out the rest) I hope to get it sorted within the next 2/3 weeks at the outside. I will keep you all posted with any developments.... stick with it.
carpbob3you buggers im nearly as confused as tony now !!! someone asked about rules for the day. To be honest i have not fished a match in 20 odd years so i have no idea what rules should apply, so im open to suggestions (well any that fit in with fishing matches)

Dave.... and don't forget the warmer water is where it's deep nearer the bottom on the top-left not on the top on the right in the small pond next to the big one when you go past the house as you come in on the left if you're travelling towards York or the right if travelling away from it and the car park entrance is to the left of the house when facing the conifers, the first entrance from the left or the second from the right next to the sign in front of it Got that Teepee ?? [:D] Dave
teepeeTotally confused is the big pond the little pond on the left right or is the big house on the left next to the big fish pond and do we wave to the Cath or is that Kath in the little pond on the right, right so the conifers are on the left next to the 6lb. gold fish, and dont forget to waveto the big pond, and the little pond with Cath is on the right,or is that left, OH forget it just send me my cheque back LOL teepee. carpbob3Hi Norm As far as i am concerned it is JUST for FUN just thought we could put a little in the pot to make it a bit more interesting..... However if everyone is happy we can just pay for the peg and if anyone wants to have a wager on it they can sort that out between themselves ....... What say you all ?
carper2002that chicken does want shooting well said that man RONNIE (carper2002)
MosterLet us know if the match is still on please, including proposed date venue etc. Might come along for the laugh
LEE SAVILLEyup, thought I'd got it right, and yeah, the bacon sarnie's are nice[;)] They run a Spring League on there every year, it's an individual thing and they use both ponds, a lot of money to pick up at the end of the series. Agree with carpbob, bites are harder to come by on the small deep man made lake but when you get one it's usually a 'proper' fish so you guys that are fishing, make sure you've got some proper gear on, none of these 1.5lb hook lengths and 22 hooks!! Souldn't go far wrong with the chopped worm and caster approach[;)] Lee Saville - Colmic Team Ossett [/img] Individual 2002 World Club Champion, Zagreb - Croatia. carpbob3Not too sure about the small pond on the left only fished it once for 4 hrs and blanked so i headed onto the big pond and bagged up on carp to 4lb (think i had about 20 odd lb )
DaveLol, The Willows is the one with the tall conifers on the road side The BIG pond is on the right, behind the house when you have your back to the road The SMALL pond is the manmade Match Lake on the left Both fish equally as well but the SMALL one is deeper generally The BIG pond contains a lot of silver fish, perch and small carp/pasties The SMALL pond contains everything plus some big fish and all being well if we wave at the house when we get there Cath will come and take orders for hot sarnies - [;)] Dave
MrCSo is the small lake just as good ? Mal
LEE SAVILLEThe 'bigger' pond is on the right the one with the house and trees round it, the natural pond. The 'Big fish' pond, the man made one is on the left. The big fish pond is the one with the catfish. The winning weights on this pond usually consist of a few 'lumps' on the bigger lake where the house is, the winning weights are usually a good net of small fish, golden orfe, ide, small carp etc but it does contain a few 'lumps'. I have confused myself now! Am I right or have I got my venues mixed up? There's a big row of tall connifers where you turn into the venue? Lee Saville - Colmic Team Ossett [/img] Individual 2002 World Club Champion, Zagreb - Croatia. carpbob3HI Lee well never mind that you bottled out, to be honest you never stood a chance winning anyway ..... lol unfortunatley we are on the small pond as there is a match already on the big pond...... just to correct you a little bit, i think you will find that the big pond is on the right and the small pond on the left unless willows have made the small pond the big pond now ..... i fished the big pond 3 times last year and bagged up on small carp every time on my last visit there i took 17 carp out with a total weight of about 35lb so not a bad day for an ameture catch you soon bob
normlee leave my chicken alone lol i am back (LOL)
LEE SAVILLENorm, I just love my fishing and can have a good crack and a laugh with the rest of them. I don't care if I'm fishing a fishomania qualifier to get to the final to try and win £25,000, fishing an embassy pairs to qualify for the final in Spain fully paid or fishing with a mate for a quid or a pint in the boozer afterwards. You might think this is sad but I could be sat on my own somewhere bagging up and I would be bored but put me on a match where I'm trying to beat either side of me and I'm scratting for 8oz for good section points and I would love it!!! And yes toma, that chicken needs shooting!! LEE SAVILLELOL @ BOTTLED IT!!! In one of my original posts when I joined I said I was commited to a 6 match series on Sundays while the end of Feb. Dave, I bet that's the best bite you've had for a long time [:D] I know Willows quite well, I'm looking forward to the spring league there. I take it you are fishing the 'big fish' lake on the left hand side as you walk down from the car park?? That lake has even got goldfish to 6lb!! I would have probably fished chopped worm and caster. Feeding very little and to my bites. Size 16 hook (Kamasan B610) with single and double caster or a small piece of dendra. 0.12 line (4lb+) and a 10 elastic. The Lake is full of Ide and if you can get those going you can build a good weight without carp. I would use two rigs, a 4x12 for fishing up to the island in shallow water and a 4x16's in the open water. Anyway, good luck guys and if you ever arrange anything for a Saturday, count me in [;)] Lee Saville - Colmic Team Ossett [/img] Individual 2002 World Club Champion, Zagreb - Croatia. normwhen you first said you wanted a match i thought you meant a fun match[:p] as i suppose manny regular members of M,D`s did just like the last pike match in december (£2pools ) i am sorry but i can not see myself paying £9.00 to individual 2002 World Club Champion, Zagreb - Croatia. Individual 2002 Angling Times North East Region Winter League Champion. 2001 Embassy Division 1 National Team Champions. as this lad may nearly be as good as me (LOL)[:I] (no offence mate) i just like to go fishing and meet the people that post on the site and have a laugh[:o)] good luck to all that go and i hope i will meet some of you other guys but it will not be in a match[:)] i am back (LOL)
DaveOnly thing is tho' mrfish is he's bottled it double booked [:D] lol The excuses some people come up with eh when faced with real competition [8D] Dave
mrfishAfter all........fishing is fishing......
mrfishIt would be nice to beat the.... Individual 2002 World Club Champion, Zagreb - Croatia. Individual 2002 Angling Times North East Region Winter League Champion. 2001 Embassy Division 1 National Team Champions. , and i'm sure we would not be put off by this......can i still be counted?????????
carpbob3ok all at the last count we have 12 fishing who are : MRC,Hull Tyke,Teepee,Dave,Norm,Stu,Mrfish,Haydn,Mookie,Carpbob3 + 2 guests Martin & kyle(junior) Still awaiting one reply From MOSTER (WHERE ARE YOU DAVE ?) So lads thats the competition you have to beat. See you all on the 9th
LEE SAVILLEYou could always run a seperate £5 optional pools for those who are feeling lucky [;)] Always usefull to include section prizes if there are enough anglers, at least then if you draw bad and are away from where all the weights are coming from you still have a bit of something to try and fish for. carpbob3Ok all emails have now been sent please respond asap ..... Anyone else that would like to join in please email me direct...... As soon as i have got all the reply's i will set about getting the venue sorted out....... What i suggest is that we round up the cost of each peg to the nearest £10 and what ever remains will go as a prize (your comments welcome ) (ie if the peg is £6 then we pay £10 the remaining £4 is the prize multiplied by the amount of participants) tight lines bob
carpbob3MESSAGE TO SIMON R could you please give me a valid email address and confirm if you are still interested in the proposed west yorkshire match ...... would you please also confirm how many will be in your party....... Many thanks Bob
carpbob3i agree with the comments and would suggest that all fish caught should be counted and that this should not just be a carp match i will in the next couple of days send all that are interested an email would you all please reply confirming your interest .... so that as soon as i have any details of venue and date i can mail it to you all....... many thanks bob
LEE SAVILLENot really got a say in the matter as I'm a newbie but agree with you Triturus. I'm versatile but would rather be getting a few bites than be sitting there all day for 1 bite off a 10lb lump, especially if i don't get that 1 bite! I think every venue is dodgy this time of year, fish less active and shoaled up in certain areas etc. Is it possible to set up a pole on here and vote for a venue? TriturusSounds like a good wheeze. Count me in. Will it be a carp, or a proper match with silver fish Neil
Simon RPut me down as a 'possible' Providing I got no other matches on I'll try and make it Tight Lines Simon

TrevskiTsk, newbies. Okay, we forgive you. [;)][:p] I'll be out with my eldest at the weekend and was looking forward to breaking a hole or two but milder weather for weekend, so they say. Ah well, and I thought we were in for a "proper" winter at last. [:)]
LEE SAVILLEOooops, didn't mean to post twice. Forgive me, I'm a newbie![:I] Lee Saville - Colmic Ossett Individual 2002 World Club Champion, Zagreb - Croatia. Individual 2002 Angling Times North East Region Winter League Champion. 2001 Division 1 National Team Champions (all sorted - you're forgiven [:)], Dave)
LEE SAVILLEWhat about a canal? Obviously a still water, also canal towpaths are usually disabled/wheelchair friendly especially if you have a 'near' draw. I've got a set of scales and would be up for it if it doesn't clash with anything. Anybody off ice breaking this weekend? How many lads in here From West Yorks, where abouts? Lee Saville - Colmic Ossett Individual 2002 World Club Champion, Zagreb - Croatia. Individual 2002 Angling Times North East Region Winter League Champion. 2001 Division 1 National Team Champions
mrfishI'd love to join in and get rid of a few cobwebs.......but i need to change my e-mail.......lost it for now...........[:(]
DaveA good all rounder with easy access and stable pegs would be the Horshoe Lake at Raker Lake, Wheldrake. And they provide keepnets and do the weighing for you. Its a mix of all sorts in there and any number of pegs can be booked as they'll split the length if need be. Dave

carpbob3All those who are up for it please email me so that i can send out details as ans when .......unless you already have emailed me as i already have your email addresses..... Looks like it will be a pond match..... dont wont a dodgy hull tyke plus you never know what swim you might get .... Venue open to suggestions ...... a good all rounder would be good for those who dont specialise in the good old carping...
