THE HOME OF THE BIGGEST OPEN CHARITY MATCH IN THE UK

5 years ago my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer a grade 3 tumor as you can imagine this turned our life's upside down , only the people and their families who go through this horrible disease (cancer) can imagine how it tears your life apart. She has now had several very painful operations chemo, radiotherapy, and some very dark days to get where she is now , the surgeons worked their magic and touch wood she has pulled through and is now enjoying her life with me and our 2 young sons, for that we owe a great debt to them all

It was then I decided to give something back to show our appreciation and to help others in the same situation, it was then that I thought of organizing a fishing match ,particularly as I am a regular on the open match circuit and so to me this was the ideal way to raise money to help others .

We have now been running 4 years and raised just over £20,000, the event is now the biggest charity open fishing match in the UK at the present time with 421 anglers taking part in 2008 and a massive 271 in May 2008 in one match alone . Why is it called the big bash ? that's the name that it was given by a few anglers and it seems to have stuck , and it seems to fit rather well .

The event is held at the prolific Lindholme lakes Nr Doncaster , In my and many others opinion this is the best venue in the north of England, it now boasts 8 very well stocked lakes on the complex . the owners Neil and Bev are probably the friendliest owners you could wish to meet , Neil's banter once heard would not be forgotten he really does make it a great day, all in all a fantastic couple

There just is not anywhere big enough apart from Lindholme lakes to hold this event in the north of England

The 2008 event attracted so many big names in angling such as 5 times world champion ALAN SCOTHORNE, & SANDRA his wife VINNY SMITH, fisho mania winner ROB HITCHENS, STEVE ROTHERY and fish "o"mania 2007 winner Matt Hall to name but a small hand full.
