Gary, I was just going to post the same thing. After every match I have washed my footplate off but despite keeping it clean I have been struggling to pull it out and push it in again after fishing.
I was thinking about putting some wd40 on it but then thought better of it as the dirt and dust will just stick to the wd40.

Mine was fine at the start but steadily got worse the more I used it.

I am still impressed with the rest of the box though. Brought some more trays for it. Loving it

The Preston SX II has the exact same problem. I bought one when they first came out - then sent it back without using and got an MSB Euro instead.

I was thinking of getting a Superbox frame and transfer me MSB stuff onto it. Will wait till I see one for real before buying now. Thanks for the heads up.

Good review Simple - cheers

Dont think i made myself clear. On the one my mate bought the tray(s) with the briefcase style handle situated under the main body would not sit in situ properly. It seemed that the whole frame was wrong as there was a lot of sideways movement resulting in the trays not fastening securely.

Kev Loveland gave me some spray grease to try and I have to say it worked a treat. I can pull the footplate out one handed now. I will see how long this fix lasts.
I suppose it should be lubricated as its a moving part but the location of it means it bound to get dirt, casters, pellets etc stuck in there.

Thanks Kev

Like the Rive but kind of put off by the price of accessories. Don't like the build quality of the MXi's,
How does this box compare to the others I have mentioned?

If you don't mind a d25 club type box, preston accessories will fit a rive with the green spacer. The d36 on the other hand you need the rive accessories or, you can buy the brackets and rivet them in place for both sqaure and round accessories. Think the brackets are about £10 for two.

Just took my new superbox out for a run today. What can I say, this has to be the best non rive box on the market. Super stable and very comfortable. The modular system is spot on and with shallow trays being just £19.99 (£24.99)it wont cost you an arm and a leg to kit it out. clips seem strong and of good quality. Shallow drawer & Deep drawer are just right for me, with the only problem being that the shallow drawer under the seat unit won't open with my arse on the seat. Preston bits fit on with the green (rive) insert and i understand that these boxes are flying out of the shops and demand is outstripping supply.

I was considering one of these boxes until I realised the footplate has no independent height adjustment....I'm 6'2" and like to have the footplate lower to sit with my legs parallel so this is an oversight by Matrix as far as I'm concerned.
I've got the Fox Stax box which also had serious design flaws..the plates that the leg screws push against to hold the leg at the height set, are fitted from the bottom of the bracket and as a result 2 of the plates have dropped out and been lost!!! So now the box is useless!!
So I'm still looking for a good box:(

Hi Frankg
The Idea is to add or subtract trays ,spacer frame, to make the Height to suit the individual

Hi Andrew....yes i understand that but at £425 should you really need to spend more money on the box just so you can sit comfortably on it:).
Having said that I'm a fan of Fox and Matrix tackle.....great stuff...got the Matrix trolley, couple of their rods, loads of their luggage and one of the best buys for my river fishing....the Fox rucksack...great bit of kit..just a bit disappointed with the need to add trays...but the box does look great!!

Frank

Unless your well over 6ft tall, then the add on trays that come with box are ample enough. You just need to add them to the top unit. As to buying other trays then the shallow trays are just £19.99 each and from matchmansupplies.co.uk they are post and package free. Had my box now for 6 weeks and i can honestly say it is the best box i have owned.

The fixed footplate on the Spacestation and the Absolute does make it harder to adjust the box to suit the taller amongst us,

I Myself am a short arse so for Me they're ok,

But I can sympathise with tall anglers as some of My mates have Spacestaions and suffer with their posture when on the box and the only way out of it is to buy extra units,

A couple of them liked the look of the Absolute when I showed them the catalogue but was unimpressed that it still had the fixed footplate,

As Frank states when paying around £425 on a box You should'nt have to part with more hard earned to tailor the box to suit Your hieght,

Had the manufacturers gave it a bit of thought and fitted a removable/adjustable footplate like the Fox MSB, Preston X series then add on units would only have to be purchased if required,

Back on topic though,

My Mate has a Superbox 1 and from what I've seen it's a good box for the cash.

The Space Station Compact doesn't have this problem.
The footplate is height adjustable
