Why are we all hung up about weight and length? I'm over weight but have a long length and by misses is happy!!!!!!! Serious point, its the balance of pole that is key!!!

one awesome thing that is worth a mention, if you remove the end caps from the 13m pole and place it in the 16m section, you can then store the pole bar 14.5m section in one tube, now take your xt15 and remove its end caps, now you can pack the margin pole into the 14.5m section, genius, margin pole and 16m pole in two tubes, i can confirm the pole is not 13m with parallel extensions, the 13m pole wont fit in the 14.5m section, and 13, 14.5 and 16m sections all step up a fraction ecach time

the short four fits into the pole tucked into the long four aswell, i then put the cupping kit inside it

as for the kits, they are slim, not quite as slim as tourny pro kits, but slimmer than garbo kits and defo smaller than a tricast kit at the base of the no.3 section, therefore i can get six kits into one rod tube, and save on storage lots, pole plus margin pole and twelve top kits in four rod tubes

The trilogy is sold at 16.5m, with the flick tip in and dolly butt on. The graphics on the pole say 15.7m this is with the flick tip removed and dolly butt off. To fish this at 16m you put the dolly butt on. Not just because I've got one but because tricast say this on their website.

you are wrong, the website says it measures 15.7m with the flick tip, the flick tip is not 0.8m long, more like 0.5m so with the flick tip removed the pole will measure 15.2m add the dolly butt and it measures 16m (its actually 20cm short of neils 16m pole posts at lindholme with all parts fitted (bar the flick tip) as i checked before the festival i fished)

ps yes i do own one!! and know this for a fact!

the website defo doesnt say its 15.7m without a flick tip and dolly as you have decided it does!

maths was a strong point at school, but your saying 16m less a dolly butt at 0.8m equals 15.7m?

flick tip and dolly butt, trilogy is 16.5m
0.5m + 0.8m + 15.2m = 16.5m

On the Trilogy fit the big bore tip & dont cut it back as far as the match number 1, that way you can get just longer than 16m.

very well ta, dare i say the sections are more robust than my veriton, maybe not stronger in a fish dragging at 13m sense, but feel less fragile

other than that ill have 16 kits soon, will prob be using upto white hydro in match kits, upto red in karp kits, i shall see what kits middy keep in stock, they only had 6 match 3s in stock when my local dealer ordered 4 for me the other day, seems a low number, altho cos of close proximity to middy i asked him to get me 4 and they were in the shop in 1.5hrs bonus!!

Can I add a late question to this section please?. I will be in the Market for a new pole soon as my Maver 151 is not long enough and nearly worn out. I see Climax tackle has the Shimano Super Ultegra 16m on offer at present. Also many of my local match anglers seem to going for the Browning Z12. Like many people say , its hard to get decent independant opinions as most of the mags want to keep their advirtisers happy.
Is the Middy XK55 still rated as highly by yourselves or has anything more recent bettered it for value/performance ?

I've just got a MAP TKS825 for just under £1,400.

Very impressed - strong, stiff, slimmer than my old maver

Good spares package too.

I hope this helps but after a long wait finally recieved my new xk55 and after being a owner of a z9 and g10 this pole is great value for money! yes the z12 is superior but alot more money! my friend has a ultegra and does not even come close to the xk55 ! wall strength is great and very stiff at 16m
