| I say yes, but not in very hot weather, and no fish above 4lb in net, and for a limited time only, say 5-6 hours tops. |

Yes of course they should be allowed , But Fish over say 2lb should be returned, In my opinion fish damage occurs when anglers are speed fishing, If you take care with your catch and monitor it, Treat every fish with respect and it will be there for the next person |

| i always use a keepnet when allowed ,and never once have i seen a dead fish come to the top when released .its a case of one fishery starts it and the rest follow suit .whats wrong with wanting to see what youve caught at the end of the day... |

| Ban them on commercials where bags of larger fish are likely. Nets just aren't big enough for multiple big fish for hours on end. The days of a few dozen roach and gudgeon are long gone. |

| I`m sure the fish are only to happy to rest in match angling nets , rather than pleasure angling nets |

Matches are limited to 5/6 hours..only comes a problem with pleasure anglers if they put net out on arrival and only empty when they leave. Some pleasure anglers(unfortunately a few about) would do this if they were allowed a 4/5hour limit. A bit of commonsense required regarding hot weather. Not against it ,can understand fisheries stance . |

| Ive seen a few weigh ins,got to be the most traumatic experience for the fish. For a pleasure angler emptying his net the fish dont even need to leave the water. |

Don't see a problem as long as people are sensible and that's the problem. maybe a set of rules (fishery dependent) but on the lines of:
Nets to be emptied at say 2pm and 8pm (fishery owner checks all nets out) Keepnets to be low to water so fish are not bounced down. Silvers and Carp seperate. No fish over say 5lb in nets. |

We re-introduced keepnets aging to our club water this year.
We have put rules in place that state it has to be emptied after 5 hours and no carp are to be put in at all when pleasure fishing.
There were 2 reasons for re-introducing keepnets. 1. We felt it may give us an edge over other clubs if you can use a keepnet on our water. 2. We wanted to keep kids interested in fishing and if they can see everything they've caught at the end of a lesson/session then they would come back and get hooked! |

When I fish the Trent, or any other river, drain and canal, the use of keepnets never comes into it.
I never put barbel in a keepnet
