Half off the allstars ventured to Sunrise lakes at Spofforth on Monday for a knock up before the third round of the 2012 farce which is taking place at the same venue on Saturday. The South puddle was apparently hammered Yesterday which gives us a fine excuse for the low weights today.....

2nd Merlin "bagger" Gilbertson 13lb 12oz
3rd Bruce "honest" Warriner 13lb 4oz
4th Alex "fagin" Langdon 11lb 8oz
5th Chris "the cormorant" Howie 10lb 12oz

Stardate 14/04/12, cold, wet, windy & I think we'd all rather have stayed in bed (not together). The puddle was up by about 4 inches due to heavy rain the previous 2 days...ho hum so back to normal with the weights..

1 Chris "the cormorant" Howie 36lb

2 Alex "fagin" Langdon 9lb 4oz

3Paul "dogsbody" Carter 8lb 4oz

4Bruce "honest as the day is long" Warriner 7lb 4oz

Looks like the cormorant has been sharpening his beak ( as well as breaking his new pole) and killer has put his finger firmly back in after taking it out for a short time.

Ok lets make this as quick as possible, Merlin in his infinate wisdom decided that 5 weeks between drenchings was too much so he organised a knock up at Sunrise lakes at Spofforth on the match lake.
True to form it blew a gale and rained again even though he'd spent all week browsing the web and convincing himself that the weather would be ok ! Nuts says I, it was probrably the coldest I've been this year....bloody miserable infact ! The only shining light was that Fagin Langdon was more depressed than me

1st Merlin "wincy willis" Gilbertson 22lb
2nd Bruce "honest" Warriner 19lb 4oz
3rd Chris "The Cormorant" Howie 16lb 4 oz
4th Paul "Dogsbody" Carter 12lb
5th Stuart "Shaggy" Walls 7lb 4oz
6th Alex "Fain" Langdon 6lb 8oz
7th Mick "The motivator" Walker 3lb 12oz
8th Steve "Killer" Kilmartin 3lb
9th Tony "Big tank Tony" Holmes 2lb 4oz

Steve Howie never weighed, well done to the rest of you who stayed indoors

The hard core of Molson Coors decended to a wind swept Birkin fisherys. What a disasterous day for some of us,as the main thing i caught was the sun yes the SUN !.Paul Carter used is LINDHOLME bagging skills to win by a country mile, followed by Steve Howie with is secret bait and then big tank Tony Holmes. The entertainment was enterainment was supplied by another club as 1 angler managed to loose 7 sections of is pole and needed to use a boat to retrieve. The Allstars return there this sat,so the report will be put back on by MR BRUCE "HONEST YES HONEST WARRINER"WHO WILL BE WEARING THE TROUSERS hopefully again, lol

1st. Paul"dogs body " Carter 40lb
2nd. Steve"chippie" Howie 27lb
3rd. Tony"big tank "Holmes 25lb
4th. Chris"cormorant"Howie 21lb

19th May, it didn't rain yippee, comes as a surprise considering we generally take our own clouds with us. Anyhoo's the crowd turned out to be a mix of people who'd rather be somewhere else and the usual no hopers who were there to get away from the families....you know who you are (me?)...Mick the motivator had his work cut out for sure. Paul Carter was the hot favourite but proved that nothing can be taken for granted on planet allstar and Merlin had his mind on his 2nd trip to wembley in a week, on the plus side no poles were harmed in the making of the latest farce so that's summat I suppose...

1st Alex "fagin" Langdon 31lb
2nd steve "chippie" Howie 29lb 4oz (dark horse this one...)
3rd Bruce "honest" Warriner 21lb 12oz
4th Adrian "no nickname yet" Broomhead 20lb
=5th Mick "the motivator" Walker 18lb
=5th Paul "airity" Carter 18lb

Poppleton puddles, house 1 puddle (when it grows up it might be a puddle but for now i'm not sure) firstly it didn't rain till time was called then the heavens opened so at least we kept our 100% record of getting wet every match this year. I had the good fortune to be squat opposite the boy & the cormorant who were steadily catching all day while I tried everything in my (very limited) bag of piscatorial excellence....and failed miserably Paul Carter added some more dosh to his piggy bank so maybe we should be handicapping him ?

1st Paul"airity" Carter 38lb
2nd Ian "the boy" Watkinson 25lb 8oz
3rd Mick "the motivator"Walker 20lb 4oz
4th Alex "fagin" Longdong 19lb

Well done to the lot of em, and on a final note I'd personally like to thank the know it all busybody who told me I was fishing in the wrong place and that my bait was s**t, I just wish he'd come earliear so that I could have benefitted more from his wisdom

Yeeehaa, it didn't rain ! Langwith lakes, Emma's lake and the usual things happened,Paul Carter won, Chris the comorant broke another section of his pole, killer never made use of the 5 spare pegs at the side of him and our timekeeping was as shambolic as ever
Anyhoo's here's the results

1st Paul "airity" Carter 57lb 4 oz
2nd Ian "the boy" Watkinson 52lb 12oz
3rd me 45lb 4oz
4th Chris "the cormorant" Howie 38lb

Next up is the challenge match against the jackdaw mob & I've no idea if they know what they're letting themselves in for !.....stay tuned

ps, Big tank Tone, the hook goes in the mouth..

Allstars versus Jackdaw, a well organised event if ever there was one.Several allstars turned up at the bacon factory puddle at Sherburn tin helmet for the draw at 8am instead of 9am & if I'm not mistaken half of the opposing team never turned up (we must've put the wrong flag up!). Anyhoo's after we managed to draw and wander round the place like lemmings our illustrious president Merlin "bagger" Gilbertson went for a swim! fortunately Shaggy & Faginwere on hand to watch & laugh.
On the run up to this magnificent event the place had been fishing ok but we put a stop to that, all being soundly beaten by a jackdaw...

1st Danny ? jackdaw 9lb summat
2nd Mark ? Allstars 7lb summat
3rd ian "the boy" Watkinson allstars 6lb 10 ish
4th Rob "ringer" Want allstars 6lb 4ish

Before anyone complains the weights are within the postcode so they're near enough for me & Merlin got sunburn on his feet whilst trying to dry his footwear !

And last but not least a big thanks to Mick "the motivator" Walker just because he wanted to see his name on screen !!

11/08/12... forget the olympics the allstars have been performing again, bring it on as an event for 2016 we'll ge to Brazil to represent...something...like Merlin in the high board belly flop or the 10m doggy paddle!

Raker lakes acorn, plenty of big fish & heavy cover for them to find so we all fished .09 hooklengths & small hooks ! Paul bloody Carter won again (deffinately from the best peg) new allstar Mark thingummy bob was second and the cormorant was third seems like Sherburn tin helmet is sending out the stars in force at the mo. Bring on the canal in September says I for sure a different winner cos Carter's off on his jollys (that we've all paid for)...

1st paul "bloody" Carter 41lb 2oz
2nd mark "chippy" Robinson 31lb 6oz
3rd Chris "the cormorant" Howie 22lb 4oz
4th Merlin " bagger badger bodger" Gilbertson 21lb14oz
5th me 21lb12oz

honourable mentions to all who turned up, Gepetto had the right idea by staying away, might buy a caravan meself so i've got an excuse next time

Canals !! nowt wrong with them I suppose but the joggers, walkers, cyclists, drivers & assorted rifraf that frequent the towpath or whatever it is are a pain in the ring ! I know they've as much right as anyone blah blah blah.... Amyhoo's the badger proved that a bit of practise always comes in handy and having muppets pegged either side of you helps too

1st Merlin "badger" Gilbertson 7lb

=2nd Rob "ringer" Want
& Ian "the boy" Watkinson 5lb 12oz
3rd Phil "flipper" Maddison 5lb 4oz

4th Mick "the motivator" Walker
4lb 4oz
Merlin did say that " if i've got 7lb I'll bear my arse and run up this path"....we're still waiting, and if anyone needs to park their bike.... Hands up who thinks the cormorant will be rushing to go back ??

The ringer had to leave the match early on Saturday to prepare his bike for a meeting on Sunday, still managed joint second, Sunday arrived bright n early 3 laps in to first race bing bang bong, bust collar bone ! this comes less than a week after wrecking an engine...puts my moans about the towpath in to perspective, if only he'd fallen off last week chubber would've won more money & I would be clearer of Rob in the points table, might see if I can get the next match moved forward by 3 weeks....

Seems that Merlin "Badger" Gilbertson has taken offence at my hinting at a stroke of luck when winning on the canal so he's gone and won an open somewhere just to prove a point, Well done badger from the treasurer and the propaganda minister

Meanwhile the motivator has decided to go back to his specimin hunting roots (cammo gear and not washing for a week)and after five days he's had bugger all.

Funny thing luck.....

13/10/12 woodlands lakes, curlew (not a puddle more like the shallow end of a swimming pool) where all pegs were created equal, unfortunately for us, all allstars were created with varying degrees of incompetence & some sort of cream still seems to rise to the top.
The highlight of my day was watching the ringer trying to land a double figure carp with a recently plated collarbone (The ringer not the carp) it was like being at a gurning competition

1st Chris "the cormorant" Howie 50lb 8oz
2nd Paul "bloody" carter 47lb
3rd Ian "the boy" Watkinson 46lb 8oz
4th Adrian "dump" broomhead 20lb 12oz
5th Mick "the motivator" Walker 18lb summat
6th Merlin "badger" Gilbertson 15lb 8oz

Honourable mention to Shaggy for christening his new mavis dishwasher in style

Oh and we had a new starter who managed to foul hook 1 skimmer all day....he's got allstars potential for sure

Also.....well done to the cormorant on entering the Allstars exclusive baggin club
