Sunday 5th Feb 2012. Round 1/21.

3 fished on the match lake.

1st Jerry Cambridge 1lb.
2nd John Bailey 3ozs.
3rd Joe Thompson 1oz.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Sunday 19th February 2012. Round 2/21

20 fished on the Match Lake.

1st Dick Young 35:12 peg 31. Pole @13mtrs/maggot/4 carp and a few silvers.
2nd Ian Millichip 25:02 peg 24.
3rd Ryan Shipp 14:00 peg 45.
4th John Williams 8:02 peg 33. (1 carp)

The silvers was won by Ryan Shipp with 10:00.

As expected the weights were low due the overnight frost.
Once again the Island fished better than the outside.

Not much else to report. Peg 27 was the only peg to not weigh. Was surprised by that, as fancied it would fish as well as yesterday.

I drew peg 39, hardly a match winning peg, but you 'give it a go'.
All my bites were in the last hour, weighing in at 4ozs. I did miss a few bites and lost 4 silvers.

----------------------

Starting with the next club match.
It has been decided to include a bonus peg, with a commitment to enter the 'bonus peg' every match once you have paid the first £1.

----------------------

Simon.

Looks like you are right about pegs 31/33.
No carp caught from peg 47.
Dick's carp included 2 over 10lb.

I'd rather be fishing.

Sunday 4th March 2012. Ivy House 'Club ' match round 3/21.

22 fished on the New canal and Small lake.

Small Lake

1st Ryan Shipp 38:02 peg 17.
2nd Vince Shipp 34:00 peg 12.
3rd Mick Gale 22:12 peg 19.

Mick gale winning the silvers with 10:00.

Both Vince and Ryan caught their fish shallow late on, with pole and expanders. Vince started the trend and Ryan soon followed. Don't think i have seen them caught shallow this early before.
Always worth trying any method on the day.

====================================

New Canal

1st Chris Derrick 38:00 peg 13.
2nd Chris Cotterell 19:12 peg16.
3rd Jerry Cambridge 16:08 peg 18.

Silvers went to Chris Derrick with 3:00.

Chris caught at the far bank with pole and expanders.

I drew peg 6 (New canal), which i blanked on last time i fished it in a match.
At least my luck was better today, catching the first carp of the match, then only 2 more. Caught with 6mm banded pellet at the far bank, for 9lb 8ozs.

I'd rather be fishing.

Sunday 18th March 2012. Ivy House 'club' match, round 4 of 21.

22 fished on the match lake.

1st Ian Millichip 52:04 peg 11.
2nd Paul Dressler 36:08 peg 49.
3rd Dave Halliday 35:12 peg 13.
4th Mark Ogbourne 32:08 peg 24.

Silvers won by Ryan Shipp 16:04 peg 41.

The better weights were round the outside today. Considering it was cold last night and a bit breezy today, the weights were not too bad.

Ian caught most of his in the last 2 hours shallow.
Me, i caught on the deck (1), shallow(4 and lost 1) and with paste(2 and lost 2) at 8 mtrs, the lost 3 due to the line breaking at the hook. I had 2 firsts for me this year, catching shallow, and catching with paste.
Some of the anglers were surprised i was catching with paste, and i was the only one today fishing it. Just goes to show if you don't try it you will never know. The fish have come on earlier than usual with shallow fishing and with paste, as they usually take it later in the year.
So there you go Fred, take some paste on tuesday and try it.

I'd rather be fishing.

Hi Paul, can't go today as I have a 80th birthday party in the afternoon.

I thought you had a misprint when I saw that Ian had won.

About time he's been going long enough

Hi Fred.

I made up some of my usual paste.

Soaked some of Pete's 6mm carp pellets overnight, then mash them in the morning with a metal potato masher, job done.

I'd rather be fishing.

Sunday 1st April 2012. Round 5 of 21.

20 (2x10) fished on both canal sections.

Old Canal

1st Dick Young 31:04 peg 8.
2nd Paul Baker 10:15 peg 21.
3rd Andy Lord 10:13 peg 16.

The silvers was won by Paul Ogbourne with 9:14 peg 10.

----------------------

New Canal

1st Kendal Barry 13:14 peg 15.
2nd Mick Gale 13:11 peg 11.
3rd John Bailey 11:00 peg 18.

The silvers was won by Mick Gale with 11:07.

Both sections were very poor today, with most moaning about lack of bites. The old canal came out on top today, so that was a surprise.
Dick was lucky, as peg 8 was going to be left out until a late arrivee turned up. He made the most of it catching 8 carp and some nice bream.
I drew peg 6, and was hopeful of catching, which i did with my first put in, but was foulhooked and came off. That was my match over,as did not get another bite.

I'd rather be fishing.

Sunday 27th May 2012 'Ivy House club match'. 9 of 21

22 fished on the Island and Small lake.

Small lake results

1st Alan Smith 166-08 peg 20.
2nd Ryan Shipp 71-06 peg 4.
3rd Mick Robbins 51-12 peg 21.

The silvers was won by Richard Baston with 16-14 peg 12.

The bonus peg was 12.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Island results.
1st Dick Young 60-02 peg 43.
2nd Allan Mitchell 58-04 peg 41.
3rd Mark Ogbourne 44-08 peg 47.
The silvers was won by Ian Millichip with 36-08 peg 37.
The bonus peg was 41.
***************************
Alan's is the best weight so far this year. He caught at 2mtrs with maggot and all carp.
Small lake back-up weights were good too.
The Island was a very close match between Dick and Allan.
Allan lost a fish just before the 'all in', while Dick caught in the margins in the last half hour. Allan's were all caught shallow and Dick caught shallow and on the deck and in the margins.
I drew peg 33 and weighed in at 15-08, catching all shallow except a bream caught on paste.
I must start using a lighter elastic as i lost a lot of bream, as was geared up to catch carp with a heavier elastic.
I'd rather be fishing.
2nd Joe Thompson 20lb 04ozs peg 37.
3rd Mick Gale 19lb 03ozs peg 23.
Section winners.
Vince Shipp 27lb 02ozs peg 17.
Chris Cotterell 26lb 14ozs peg 37.
I caught all shallow with banded pellet in the last 2 hours, except 1 caught on paste early on.
I lost 4, inc one when my top 2 came off and went swimming round the lake. I did get it back, thanks to Alan Mitchell.
Not sure how others caught.
The top weight on the island was 26lb 14ozs from peg 37.
Back-up weights on there were, 26-12,26-08,24-14,24-03.
Although the island did not fish very good, it was a close match between the first 5.
I'd rather be fishing.
It was a close match on the small lake with just over 5lb separating the top 5.
The wind was once again making fishing difficult for most.
I had 10 carp averaging just over 3lb each. I caught most on paste at 5mtrs. 2 were caught shallow,and lost 4 foul hookers shallow as could not see the bites and struggling to hold the pole.
I'd rather be fishing.
I only lost 5 today, either foul hooked or in the reeds.
Ian caught most of his fish in the last hour,shallow it think.
Alan fished his usual maggot.
Joe was catching steady, fishing close to peg 9.
The back-up weights were not bad either,with 48-06,46-08,42-11,42-09,41-06.
A big bonus was that it did NOT rain.
It was a really hard day, with most struggling for bites.
Gerry did well on the old canal, catching at the far bank and in the near margins with corn and pellet.
The new canal produced a close finish with just over one pound between the top 3, with 27lb 4th.
Ryan might have been a little unlucky losing 4 biggies from the margins.
I drew peg 13 and had 3 carp for 6lb 14ozs, having lost only one.
All were caught/lost on paste.
I'd rather be fishing.
For once (apart from the top 2) the island outfished the outside.
Well done to Ryan who caught shallow with pellet and caster in the margins.
Alan caught with his usual maggots close in.
Both Gary and Dan caught shallow with pellet.
I drew yesterdays winning peg 49, weighing in with 18lb 15ozs.
I think after Simon's winning weight yesterday the fish decided to move on.LOL.
Sunday 26th August 2012.
17 fished today on the New canal(8) and Small lake(9)
Small Lake.
1st Gary Etheridge 53lb 7ozs peg 11, and silvers 15lb 12ozs.
2nd Vince Shipp 26lb 6ozs peg 19.
3rd Dick Young 23lb 8ozs peg 14.
New Canal.
1st Mick Robbins 25lb 13ozs peg 10.
2nd Ian Millichip 22lb 4ozs peg 12.
3rd Paul Dressler 19lb 10ozs peg 16.
The Silvers was won by Mick gale with 9lb 14ozs peg 4. Nearly all Roach.
Seems like it was hard going on both venues today.
Gary caught shallow and late on catching 6 carp by peg 10.
Mick on the New Canal caught with the feeder.
I caught 2 chublets and 3 carp (losing 2) in the first hour, at the far bank with banded pellet. One of the lost ones, was what i thought was a small F1, so was a bit too casual. It suddenly shot off to my left, eventually losing the hook with the elastic bottoming out.
That was it till 3:55, then catching 5 carp, (losing one) in the next 15 mins. Had a nice on one at the whistle. All caught on paste.
I'd rather be fishing.
Sunday 23rd September. Ivy House 'club' match. R16 0f 21.
18 fished on the match lake.
1st Alan Smith 79lb peg 12.
2nd Mick Robbins 76lb 8ozs peg 37.
3rd Paul Ogbourne 70lb 8ozs peg 21.
4th Jerry Cambridge 63lb 6ozs peg 27.
Silvers.
1st Ryan Shipp 33lb 12ozs peg 47.
2nd Dick Young 15lb 11ozs peg 30.
3rd Dan Beames 11lb 6ozs peg19.
Section winners were
8-24 Joe Thompson 41lb 12ozs peg 14.
27-50 Ryan Shipp 47lb 7ozs peg 47.
And bonus pegs were 30-41-45.
Considering the ghastly weather there were some good back-up weights.
The island came out with the most weight today.
Alan caught with short pole and maggot.
Mick caught with feeder and pole in the margins, and with pellet.
Not sure how and where Pauy caught
Jerry caught with pole and pellet against the causeway, weighing 6 carp for 57lb.
My day is best forgotten from peg 45, finishing last losing 3 rigs, and to p****d off was losing my number 7 section. My hands were so cold that i just lost my grip on it and it slid gently into the water.
But the 3 carp in did land and 2 lost were caught just the other side of the R/H tree stump. I lost one then caught 3 in quick succession and then lost one and the rig under per 46.
I'd rather be fishing.
Sunday 7th October. 'Ivy House' club match. R 17 of 21.
10 fished the Small Lake and 9 fished the Island.
Small Lake.
1st Mark Ogbourne 58lb 10ozs peg 14.
2nd Vince Shipp 39lb peg 19.
3rd Dick Young 27lb 3ozs peg 5.
4th Paul Dressler 26lb peg 10.
Silvers was won by Ryan Shipp 3lb 12ozs peg 7.
Bonus pegs were 1 and 10.
Mark caught just under the tree to the left of the peg,catching with pellet.
Vince, Dick and myself caught most in the margins. Mine were all caught by peg 9 about 2 ft out. Landed 5, lost 6. Lost a biggie under my peg. My fault as was trying to get it in quickly as it was getting near the end of the match.
Ryan lost 9.
Island.
1st Allan Mitchell 56lb 14ozs peg 37.
2nd Ian Millichip 48lb 14ozs peg 34.
3rd Paul Ogbourne 48lb 2ozs peg 49.
4th Simon Stacey 44lb 2ozs peg 47.
Silvers.
The silvers was won by Simon Stacey 14lb peg peg 47.
The bonus pegs were 34 and 47.
Alan caught with feeder, then pole in the margins.
Well done Simon and thanks for your help.
Paul Ogbourne has you envelope.
Had an average a day for me, but was annoyed at myself for losing the biggie. Lost 3 rigs and knocked my pellets into the water at the end. Also at the whistle drew my pole back and left the baited hook in the water. Looked away then noticed my pole going out. Recovering it found that i had a fish on, but did not count, as was 'on' after the whistle.
I'd rather be fishing.
