today sunday 16th jan, there were two matches on, one was on the match lake and had almost a full compliment of pegs taken, this was organised by the fish 4 wales/maggot drowners

it was cold and quite breezy on arrival shortly after the all in shout the rain started as well and this lake fished really hard in the cold wet windy conditions

meanwhile on the new canal lake there was the White Springs open golden peg match, conditions were the same on this lake, but nobody blanked and fish were caught by all

i was cold and i was only out for the weigh in of the other lake

all the anglers on both lakes need medals fishing in those conditions

results of the White Springs open on the canal lake were peg order

peg 2 best fish 5lb carp 6-9 bag
peg 5 best fish 7lb carp 18-6 bag
peg 8 tipped net back 3 small carp
peg 11 tipped no report
peg 14 8-13 bag
peg 18 5-14 bag
peg 20 7-12 bag
peg 23 perch to 2-10 bag 14-14
peg 27 8-4 bag
peg 30 carp of 7-8 bag 7-12

the eventfull winner with a 18-6 bag and 7lb carp was Ebbw Vales Lee Werret sponsored by Fox Match Hereford and he had drawn one of the Golden Pegs

second and third were both team members of Green's Tackle Pontllanfraith

2nd Bob Giles 14-14 bag best fish 2-10 perch
3rd Howard Green of Green's Tackle 8-13 bag

do you ever read the angling times

in this weeks edition tue 7th feb, white springs has two photo's of 30 lb plus carp on page 7

and following the article two weeks ago des taylor paid white springs a visit in search of the perch, he's put a page write up on page 31

he caught 12 perch over two pounds from the canal and his travelling companion mick fished the pleasure lake to weigh in 50lb of mixed

that's entirely your choice
but whatever small stuff that is caught will be transfered over into the match lakes, we organise several matches like this to move the small stuff out
there plenty of lumpers in there 30lb plus including grass carp up to 30lb
there's big bream tench and perch in there and there's a lot of small silvers etc moving close to the surface, some of the carp boys regularly catching small bream
