used the exage ax for the first time this weekend, general feel was good but was only catching carp at a pound or so.feels to me that it may not cope too well with the bigger fish, just feels a bit lightweight.ive been using tks 225 before this which is a little heavier i know, but had some nice ghosties on and handled em really well without fear of any breakages.just wondered what you lads think of the exage. thanks for any opinions fellas.

Is this the old exage 14.5m competition pole? If thats the case, then I used to have one. They are rated to 16, and I had carp out up to 10lb on the power kits (using drennan pink 14-16 hollow). So I wouldnt worry about strength. Just dont go mad and put a 20 solid in it and go margin fishing with it...

I have an exage ax and have been using for the past 3 years or so and they are a very good pole for the money. Have carp to over 10lb on it and it still felt good. Got kits from 9 hollo up to 16 solid and all cope well. Team a 13 hollo with a pulla bung and you want go far wrong if catching carp in 5-6lb bracket.

Had one for about 4 years and had fish to about 9/10 lb.jcbenson is right in what he says about elastic strength. The exage isnt a power pole its more an all rounder. All in all its a very good pole.

I used to have one - best pole I ever owned. The Exage AX may seem light, but has plenty of brute strength - believe my I had had carp up to 16lbs with ease. The only concern I ever had was the price of spares for them. If I could change back time I would had never have sold mine old one. By the way brought a TSK325 instead - not half as good.

I have one as well and like others have had carp of up to about 10 on it without an issue on 16 solid...
To fish or not to fish, that is the question. Think carefully before you answer... |

I bought a Shimano exage few years ago. Found it very strong suitable for big tench, carp etc. Saw one adverised on ebay so I also bought that. Now have two poles both the same in case I need spares but not needed spares yet. Best pole I have ever had and I had lots over the years.

Same here, I've been using mine for 4 years now, had loads of fish up to 10lb, again, I bought a second one as a spare recently, managed to pick one up for £100 with 5 top kits!
