It is always possible if peg 1 & 20 are not in to fish those from 2 & 19 as often the fish hold there this time of year, when Eric used to run the matches he banned fishing the corner pegs if not drawn peg, wasn't popular!
Not back there 'till the 3rd June on the Top 2 unless something crops up this weekend.
Getting ready to spawn at Shiplate, don't know about Sedges, hopefull all over by the time we get there, probably all go this week with this weather.

Had a pleasure session today on canal lake peg 52.Excellent morning until the sun burnt through around mid day,40lb ish of carp on banded pellet to the island and 10lb silvers down the track expanders over micro. If i had packed up then i would of had a great session but sat there slowly cooking for another 4 hours for maybe another 10lb.Interested to see if carp are caught shallow on tonights match on tile as i couldn't get them interested just cruising around spooking to easily.Gonna try brick next week for the skimmers.

Just got back from apex, didnt fish the eve sweep, as mix up on both parts meant i was missed out of the draw.

So headed over to apex and had 8 or 9 bream and a solitary double figured common, was flat calm most of the evening, but nice to try new feeder rod out.

Did better than me Lee. Fished the 3 hour evening match tonight which was won with 44 lb. I ended with 3 carp and 2 skimmers for 16lb. Took the skimmers and one carp of about 8lb on feeder, and then went down the edge with the pole for the last half hour and picked up the other two carp. Perhaps I should have tried there earlier.
There have been a lot of favourable comments on this thread about the Sedges, so if anyone is interested, Jamie tells me that as well as his permanent caravans for rent, he is now catering for touring caravans as well.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

pegs near island 9,10,11,12 had lovely ripple in the water which is what ya want as always found apex to fish harder when dead calm,
I was on peg 10 today!
were there many fishing still when ya got down?

been bloody hot tho!!
which don t always help :-(

Unlucky Bill,Keep tryin pal
Did you put much bait down margin?
I never fish til last hr of the match margins and don t put great deal bait down usually if short sweep as with sweeps your always after 1 fish at a time mate!

good news about touring caravans tho

Who won from where? You doing next week's?

Apex was ok, but the fish are shoaled up and taking bread for duck in their usual spawning haunts...

I was in 3...little ripple, and i mean little, when i started, but the bites can when calm!!!...either pellet or 4 maggots on a 12. Bout 6 others fishing, but half were 'carpers'.

As for sedges, i fish the margins in spurts, the fish know whats going on....but it is always my first drop in...even only for 5 mins. Then keep giving it feed, i prob feed too much....lol.

The one i had was full to spawn, so my guess is that they'll be properly shoaled.....expect 200lb bags in next week or so. Pegs 37 back to 28-ish.
The bream have spawned by the looks of it, slime has returned and turbicles almost so...Loads of roach etc kicking around too.

Lee, I was on peg 31 in the corner of Tile, and when they got to me for the weigh in, I was told I needed 40lb to win. I didn't have that, nor did 32, 33, 34, so must have come from 35 to 40.

The plan was to fish for the skimmers today so i chose peg 13 on Brick as i had 100lb plus several times last year, along with half a dozen or so carp.Well shouldn't make plans realy, spent the first two hours fishing expander over micro for maybe 10lb with only 3 propper ones and lots of 4-6 oz fish.(used my new ng deckers for the first time, spot on me thinks.)
Lots of the bigger skimmers were rolling everywhere by now, so i set up a dibber rig and fished that for an hour and had 2 roach,so that was up the bank as well.
Time for the pellet wag. I started to get a few carp and the odd better skimmer but was hard work with the wind in my face. By the time i had run out of the 2 pints of 8mm's i had with me there was 11 carp in the net between 5 and 9lb. Straight lead next where the pellet had been fired for another 5 carp and 4 skimmers. So i ended upwith 16 carp for about 90lb ish and 15 lb of silvers. An enjoyable day in the end, back on the canal lake next week i think.
