I live near Accrington in Lancashire. I am considering joining Bay Malton partly because of the water on the Ribble but also I fancy the Dane and some of the ponds around Cheshire.
My question is, to travel to Cheshire would take me around an hours drive. My worry is that I might drive down only to find the nicest waters already taken. I am retired so most of my fishing is weekdays.
Could any members tell me if I am wasting my time and petrol?? Or will I be able to find a nice peg or two without problems. (I am disabled)

| bay malton is worth joining brookhouse pool is good if you are disabled car park right next to the water with two disabled pegs on it should not not have a problem during week but weekends sometimes they have matches on it, border fisheries has a disabled peg on gibbos pool which is next to the carpark which has a cafe and toilets |

Most waters are a long way from Accrington with many being mid and south Cheshire. There is a new stretch of the Dee which looks the part and the dane is very good. You are very likely to get a good choice of pegs on most waters midweek so I wouldn't worry too much there. Lymm dam is probably the most handy stillwater from you and it's a very good water plus there is watergrove reservoir near Milnrow which admittedly I have never fished but I've visited twice and it looks a very interesting place to spend a day.
Have a look at the website and see what you think, PM me if you want to know where any of the waters are.

Apart from on the opening day of the season 4 years ago when I did get on a few pegs I have never had a problem getting a peg on the Dane. It may not always be the peg I wanted but you'll get on somewhere.

Hi Mick
The Bay Malton Angling Club has just under 3 miles of the river Dane of J18 M6 with good access and car parking, and just down the road we have another small stretch about half a mile long. You will be ok fishing it through the week, we do tend to get a few members fishing down there at the weekend. Alos there are 7 good still waters within 3 miles of the Dane, all well stocked. Hope this helps you. Regards Stewart G |

| My mate and I are BMAC members, and only ever fish on weekdays. We've NEVER struggled for pegs, and it's not particularly unusual, at certain venues, to have the water to yourself! |
