Spoke to one of my mates today and apparently live bait ban has gone through parliament and was rejected on the grounds that worms and maggots could be classed as live bait . Apparently this was reported in the sun newspaper today, not being a sun reader I was wondering if anyone else out there has heard anything ?
What actually happened was the Sports Minister (who's name I can't remember) was asked to comment on the fact that the Scottish Parliament has banned it.
His reply was that the government had no plans to change anything in this country and in any case if you ban using a fish as bait you might as well ban the use of worms - or words to that effect anyway.
This was in todays sun, labour spokesman Martin Salter said,i support the continued use of live baiting,(Specimen hunter),Martin Bowler said ,how can you say its wrong to use live fish-but its OK to use a worm,- this is word for word what it said in the (Stan Piecha) column, today
