You know how it is, what with chores,
and family commitments at weekends, you sometimes only have a few hours to spare in the afternoon. Outside its freezing cold and chucking it down, but if you don't get out, that's your lot for the week. So its out with the gear and off to to the local carp puddle.

Conditions were awful, cold, wet and windy. My brolly blew in the water, my flask toppled over over and I lost my hot coffee, my rolling papers got soaked so I couldn't even have a smoke!

But despite the conditions, the pastie carp were playing ball. Sport was slow on sweetcorn, but a switch to red worm produced results. Ended up with 14 fish up to 3 pounds before it got too dark to see the float. Lovely sport on a centre pin and light gear.

Finally a big thanks to 'Rick' from Downham who not only helped we fish my brolly out, but came up trumps with a slug of whisky and a couple of cigarettes. I owe you one.
