How do I go about resizing my pictures?

Firstly you need some form of Photo Editing Software.

The following link http://jansfreeware.com/formati11.zip that will take you to a free download of the neccessary Formati11 software.

For those of you that use Formati11 the following may be of some help when it comes to resizing your pictures.

Launch Formati11. then select the photo that you wish to use from the menu at the left hand side of the screen.

To reduce the dimensions of the photo.

Click on edit in the toolbar and this will launch a drop down menu, and select "Resize Image..."

This will launch an Image Resize box.
type in the size that you want to resize to,and click on OK.
The image will then be shown resized.

To reduce the number of bytes to an acceptable level.

Click on Tools in the toolbar and this will launch a drop down menu, and select JPG optimise.
This will launch a JPEG Preview box showing your photo.
Drag the grey slider control to reduce the bytes to the desired number, while checking that you're not ruining the quality of your photo.

Once you're happy, click on save. This will launch a Save AS box.
Select the location that you want to store the picture in and give it a file name, and click save.
Your resized picture will be saved in your specified location, for you to use when you want to upload it to the site using My Photo.

You may find the screen shot tutorial of help that has been prepared by Simon, when it comes to using Formati 11....

First thing is download Formati11 by clicking the Underlined link below

Formati11

You will need either Winrar or Winzip to extract the file.

If you haven't already download and install winrar (i recommend) or winzip then download formati11 and save to Desktop.

Once you have downloaded it you will have this file on your desktop,

Right Click it and click "Extract here"
You will then have a folder on your desktop called "Formati11"
Double click the folder and inside you will see this

Double click the Formati11 file and that will open the program.
It should look like this...

In the left hand side you need to find where your picture is on you PC. Normally in "C:Documents and Settings,My Documents, My Pictures"
When the name of the picture appears in the left hand tree, double click it and it will appear in the main screen.
First off you will more than likely need to resize the image, click "Edit" at the top and then "Resize Image..."

Then another box will popup, copy the picture and do the same in yours..And click OK

You will see the image has gone to the right size for the forums.
BUT it may still be too big in K/bytes..
So now click "Tools" and then "JPEG optimize"

It then looks like this...

The RED underlined number MUST NOT be higher than 34000, so make your image look as good as possible by moving the slider but keeping an eye on the numbers. When its about 25000-30000 click "Save"

Put a filename in, e.g "Fish1" and make sure its "Save as Type JPEG"
When your happy click "Save" and it should save the edited picture to your Desktop.
