fished river wyre at churchtown on the W.A.A. stretch,at 11.00 on 30/01/06. it was cold, clear & a hard frost from the night before, used liquidised bread with flake on the hook, using a roving approach,& fishing 5-6 different swims. no chub for the first 2hrs in 2 different swims, then 2 in the space of 30mins about 2lbs and 2.5lbs. changed swim and straight into another chub this one 3 to 3.5lbs a most enjoyable day and a real test due to the conditions, great to get out and even better to have fish on the bank. dave.

Nice one pikey it is good to hear others fish my fav' river. I have done well with chees paste. Roving tactics is the way to go. There are some good pike in the river as well.

Pikey I only ever lure fish and have had some good fish to mid doubles but have seen 20's. I would think sink and draw or as you say trot a dead or static. Again I would also use roving tactics moving between swims. Whilst lure fishing I have had pike take the good old bulldawg amongst other big lures. Dont't just fish the bends they seem to hold up or down stream of bends. If the river is clear as with chub try under trees and rafts or in little cutouts in the bank but most of all have fun. May be I will see you some time? I the good looking guy with the brimmed hat!!!
