just got back from a good session on the aire i had a fish a chuck all day mainly bream but i had roach perch and some good sized hybrids. reeling a roach in and a pike took it a 5 minute sruggle followed but the pike just spat it back out at me, i set a pike rod up and used the now dead roach as bait,as soon as the float settled it diserpeared into the deep, i counted to five reeled down onto it and struck, a short gentle fight then the pike spat the bait out again,as i reeled the now shreaded bait in a huge pike rose from the deep and engulfed it brilliant what a sight very exiting my heart was pounding, i was fishing with 15 pound braid to a light wire trace with 2 size 6 trebbles, i fought the pike for a good 15 minutes it made several long strong runs there wasnt nothing i could do it was so strong, fantastic sport, i was winning and had the huge fishat the net when the hooks pulled out, oh sorrow fliping heck i said to myself, i would say that it was well over 20 pound and im going to have another go at it soon.

Fished at Eggborough today for the first time. Had 7 Bream and a few bits. Missed quite a few bites as well. Not such an easy place to fish but massive potential if you can crack it. Fish bouncing out every where you looked, including pike. Packing in at the end of the session there was one about 10lb waiting at the end of my keepnet. I will definatley be going back. Thanks to Pegasus for the advice, let us know how you get on Monday.

Cheers, the feelings mutual. He is a good laugh and your right, I take him to make me look good. He got a right *******ing of his wife when he got home for locking her out. The youngen slept all the way home, pity she didn't do that while we were fishing. Your right about the banking, no place for the faint hearted. It took me all afternoon to clean the car and the mud stinks. Still we will be giving it another go.

no mate the pole is out of the question you would struggle with owt more than 5 meters you can either use long rod and bolo or sliding wag or you can bit bash with the whip or fixed wag but by far the best way to fish it is with the groundbait feeder with eather worm corn or maggot. the fishing is good the only hard bit is getting to the peg cos the banks are slippy and in some places very muddy it would help if you took a spade with you so you can dig some steps out for your comfort and safty. the river here is tidal and the water can rise or drop 15 feet during the corse of the tide, even without the tidal water the depth is somwhere between 20 30 foot deep in the middle, if you still decide to go the best pegs are anywhere you can get to realy. if you park up by the brick man hole structure the pegs about 40 yards to your left are ok theres one other peg about 15 yards further down thats good for the wag i saw a guy hook a couple of barbel from there last week. if you cross over the fence to the right theres a large bend where the water is still and shallow this is where most of the large pike are and its full of bream roach rudd bleak and the odd carp. its a bit of an adventure but im sure that if you have a session there you`ll enjoy it, let me know if you still want to go and i`ll pop down and see you.

Think we can handle the tide and slippy banks. if i remenber correctly it's quite a chuck. is it a far bank feeder chuck? I'm sure that the last time i fished it i fished the pole to about 8 meters but i was breaking at section 5 or 6.

it depends on what peg you decide to fish mate the bend swim is a good chuck but the other swims are only 25 yards wide. you maybe could manage with the pole but it will be akward

take the A19 to selby off the M62 go streight across the roundabout you`ll see eggborough power station on your right drive past the station and take the turning for gowdall when you get to the 3rd set of cooling towers you`ll see a dirt track to your left follow the track to the end turn right and drive up the flood barrier banking the river is there mate.
