Well what can I say, my favorite fishing holiday venue has come up trumps again..www.tinneywaters.co.uk
We, June, myself and our 2 dogs, arrived just after lunch on Monday 11th. We entrusted our love birds to June's friend Rachael, lovely girl, lives just around the corner and offered to feed them and change their water.
On arrival Jane, as always, was there to greet us with a friendly smile. "Hello" she said, "are you just passing?" "No we are here until Friday" I said. "oh is it this week? sorry I forgot" She is such a lovely lady, not had much luck and lost her dear husband Geoff last year to cancer. "do you mind going in a caravan for a few hours while I get the cottage sorted?" she asked.. "course not" I replied. June desperate for the loo we rushed to the caravan. Outside was the gardener, tree feller, general dogsbody who was building some new steps to the van.."just like Spain" he said smiling. He is a nice chap. bit of a hippie and a little bit sandwich short of a picnic type, well maybe thats unfair, laid back might be better. Anyway while June made a cup pa I set about my fishing. I headed straight for the peg that produced the 42lb of silvers last year. Middle lake, right hand side, between 2 trees that make it difficult to use a rod. Pole set up, keep nets at the ready, bait sorted, all in 10 Min's flat, shallow rig, it's only 18inches deep, and I was set. Maggot=fish, worm=fish, pellet=fish, corn=fish, lovely jubbly... Took some OLD hemp and dumped it just behind the Lilllie's that produced last year. Silver after silver not big but constant. Then it all went dead, **** I've over fed it. No problem I fished just under the tree to my right and switched back to the Lillie's after a fish.
This is a not very good picture of the fishing that afternoon.
This is one of the carp. Tuesday was promised to June, few hours drive about, visit to eden project, nice lunch etc....then teatime.....fishing.. Oh before the Tuesday dayout I ventured to the top lake before June woke up.
One of the 3 tench from that morning visit. After the dayout I ventured back to the top lake to try for some evening Tench or Carp. The lake was fishing well, all 3 lakes switch on and off for no apparent reason so finding a hot spot is important. This was a good evening for me, several fish and lots of signs of them coming up in the water. I decided to try floating bread, I have never tried it before as I have been worried about sticking too early and damaging the fish. Put a couple of bits out and saw a fish rising for them so put a crust on my ledger rod with a size 10 hook to 7lb ready tied and 12lb line. I saw the fish rise in the water and suck in my bread, now what I thought, no chance to think as the fish went swim about with my line, reel screaming, rod bent, no dought it's hooked...
First ever Koi, first ever fish on floating bread.. Well it only got better, Wednesday produced these..
 Thursday produced this
 Friday produced these...
 and these..
 This one was...forget what day..
Honey our bitch thought she was on Passion for angling..
I had the time of my life and we are going back for a half price holiday later in the year.
A great back to nature venue with lovely people and great fishing, pubs, food local and seaside all there to enjoy.....
All the best.. Chris..
Oh, thanks to Jane for offering a free holiday voucher for the next stoney and friends raffle...
