Any recommendations?

Seem to go from £5 to £150

Does it make much of a difference having them compared to the naked eye?

How much will a more expensive pair be compared to a cheap and cheerful one?

Would recommend Shimano speed master. I paid under £30 and importantly they float!

paid £15 for mine from a well known high street chemist, there is a remarkable diffrence between looking through a pair of polarised glasses looking through ordinary ones and with the naked eye. you can see a lot deeper under the surface with the polarised glasses and they cut out all the glare.

esp ones are bargain, as are shimano or fox ones. You do get what you pay for, cheap (£30 or less) ones are not as nearly as good as a pair of £100+ glasses. But unless you are a serious stalker of chub/carp etc and spend most time just watching a float etc, then a cheaper pair will suffice. Plus you can have a couple pairs.

Dont forget you can gey yellow/pink/copper lens types for dull/cloudy days.

Would love to say I'm a 'top class all-rounder'......but I would not be telling the whole truth!!

Standard polarized sunglasses are not up to much when it's not so bright or the light is fading. Having recently got a set of prescription glasses made up with these lenses http://www.drivewearlens.com/ recently, I'm over the moon with them. I'm very surprised that they aren't being agressively marketed to anglers.

I bought some Bloc Titans last year for mugging carp, definitely helps spotting those cruising fish.

I've thought about trying some of these. I like some that act as sunglasses too cos my eyes are really sensitive to sunlight.

If money is no object then Costa del Mar are the only way, if you want to look flash but dont care about lens quality then choose oakleys, otherwise fox, esp and Shimano do giggs in a budget range that are good.

I'll second that. I have a pair of Costa del Mar Brines with the 580 polarised glass green mirror lenses. I bought them down in the Florida Keys a few years ago. I go there regularly fishing the flats for bonefish and permit. I have tried many glasses over the years but these show up the incredibly hard to see bonefish really well. They cost me a small fortune but they are the absolute best and everyone that has tried them and compared them to what they have and thought was good have been blown away by the incredible clarity they give. It really is like going HD.
Plus they have international lifetime warranty. One of the arms started to wear a little recently and it was replaced, glasses serviced and some freebies sent to me, all free of charge.
Don't know if anyone sells them in this country, but if they do, then buy some. You will not regret it.

I have just had a pair of polarized over glasses from this website
http://www.sunglassesforsport.com/

They do all types and also explain about the different lens colours.
Really good service,fast delivery, recommended.

Based on the reasoning that a huge percentage of boat captains all over the world choose costas thats good enough for me! Hence being the proud owner of a pair of mirrored blue polycarb 580's :-)I have several pairs of oakleys and they look the biz but I personally find the polrised lenses aren't that good for fishing but I do look cool when on my hand bike!

The lens colour is a big factor and it always helps to have a changeable lens or different pairs for different conditions.

Costa do have a UK importer as I spoke to him at the Tackle and Guns show, but not sure who retails here?

I never really had Polaroids as I wear specs. I only ever had prescription sunglasses. This year I was replacing my glasses and got a set of proper sunglasses with polaroid lenses. Really really great IMO and a must for any angler. For me it's not about seeing under the water but it's all about seeing the float. I can spot fine bristles in all conditions and it just reduces the glare so well.
