Hi. Some advice from any match anglers please. When fishing shallow with 4mm or 6mm pellet on a micro band, what is the quickest method for loading a new pellet in to the band? Often you can have lots of fish on the same pellet ... but eventually the pellet comes out. I have done it by hand, but the pellet and band become slippery after unhooking a fish, or if it is raining! I also have a Mosella pellet bander, but this is quite slow too! On our local venue, it is a real fish race and therefore lost time rebanding pellet means that you get behind Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

Personally, I find I can put a pellet in a band with the Mosella bander as quick as putting on a maggot.

I find the pellet banders is the quickest way, the only other way is to lasso the pellets.
I give mine a couple of coats of clear varnish then leave them in ground pellets to help mask the smell of the varnish, you can then dip the pellet in a glug.
grove the pellet for a better hold they can last a full session with no need to change your pellet

I suppose it's a case of practise makes perfect? In my haste, I often tend to draw the band off the back of the pellet ... must try harder

Pellet band tied in a small loop on the hair, trap the band against the peller with your finger nail, from your first finger, inside the band and pull the band round the pellet. Then just pull the band to the centre of the pellet and check it isn't twisted anywhere as this tends to make the pellet come off quicker. Easier and quicker than using a banding tool for me and was shown to me by an angler who's sponsored by Mosella.

Yes, that's exactly what I did when I started using the bander. I find if you clamp the band with finger an thumb onto the pellet and pull out the bander, the band doesn't come off.

I can do that with the larger bands but not the micro bands..... you've obviously got more nimble fingers than me... lol

It has been said before, not for fishing tho! lol

Have a practice doing it this way, miles easier and the lad that showed me had *thinks carefully* quite wide fingers! Just make sure your fingers are dry or you'll never do it!
